How big of a rainbow and laker do you guys think will be needed to win the derby?

I'd say Rainbow  25-27 inch    Laker 38-40 inch

5th in burbot???!?!? Well thats ok i like being the underdog. Although i will say i expect to place top three in burbot and brookies

Yeah no doubt! No Ian on the board twice but both are dead last.

I think he means just out of us. Pretty big statement saying B.C. will win all the categories that he listed. There is some pretty good competition out there.

Hally-----   I hope you do get out there too,  its just you didnt fish that much last winter,  just for brookies and the ocasional burb, thats why I placed you that way.   get that Dad of yours to take you out more often buddie.

Dukes----  I havent heard you say you were going for any other species,    but the board shows you doing OK in the respective categories

Ian-------  well lets face it,  it takes skill to catch fish,   so we dont think you'll place very well....       just kidding buddie   

I hope I dont offend anyone by making this post, I was just goofing around, and this is just my opinion,  I wish everyone the best of luck in the derby, and I hope everyone catches some nice brutes !!   Lets get out there and represent BC well.

Ya,   If I told you what I was going for you'd get all nervous and lose sleep over what I was doing so I thought I'd keep it to my self.   You got nothing to worry about this is only my 2nd year ever ice fishing anyways    good luck to you all

You guys make me hate New Years...... all this talk about ice fishing and the great times had... makes me wish I was up there to be art of all this action  Well hopefully on my trip up and I can catch some nice ones to hold me over til next year!

    Holy moly,  that means we finially get to see what Mr. Lurker finially looks like.  He has always hidden his face on the pics he posted

my prediction is that ise de by wont be getting a brookie bigger then the 22" leader

I saw your burb koz. Nice fish good starting burb. But there is still lots of time left. Haha like i said earlier in this post underdogs have an advantage.and thats all im gonna say

didn't expect to last the distance, but the biggest actually landed at location to date for us..11.5 lbs

34 ish.  Hard to get them to lie flat, and then if you do,  hard to get the pic square and still read the numbers on my crappy tape....need one with less rust I guess.  It was the size of its head that was truly impressive, at least 7 inches wide.....quite an intake of breath when it went past the 10 inch hole and pretty much filled it side to side.

I think i might have found your ling holes. I walked out to a well known burbot spot and found ten inch holes everywhere. I guessed you were trying to find the honey hole i saw lots of blood so i guess you found there was one hole on the far end that was in 10-12 feet of water i tried but it was full of weeds but i was getting solid hits so i drilled a few and managed to catch a few average ones. I think im going to tey and catch a winner from my home lake this year. Not as many fish but that just means more room fot the bigger ones

we actually didn't do that great where the blood was...it was there when I got there.  Not all of the 10 inch holes were mine....I know this because I was trying to find a spot from days previous with no luck cause of the new big holes....i work with gps all of the time but am usually lazy when it comes to icefishing....we had better luck farther in, but only because the fish there were feeding....Sometimes they alll come from one hole, sometimes you have to search for them.  Most of the time i am the "fish-finder" and " get them through the hole guy" my friends with me are more the "fish catchers".  I have come to realize that that is my role and no use fighting it, but once in a while I stumble upon one.

As for your lake, I suspect it has the biggest fish of all species in it around here, they are just harder to catch in numbers.  I rarely fish there.......that lake hates me and Ive had limited success...I go back about once a year as the siren song of a possible Laker 50 lbs+ draws me in....Ive heard a couple of stories of that kind of fish there and its enough to bring me back even though I hate it
