If you want to travel a little further north to the swanton exit off of 89 (21) rather than rte 2. There is a bait shop on the way to North Hero there. Have you talked to holiday harbour in north hero?

I believe there is a shortage of golden shiners this year, and with the new bait laws its pretty slim pickens at most bait shops. Your best bet would be hog island market in west swanton, probally 10-15 drive from holiday harbor. Also, Ive never been there, but I believe bill's bait shop in grand isle has minnows, you will be driving past it on rte. 2, its located behind the islands super market.

If need to and all else fails head to Martins in Swanton Gil should be able to help you out. you can also check VT fish and wildlife and click on bait dealers. they list every dealer in the state. there is also a tackle and bait store behind island beverage in North Hero on rte 2. hope this helps. When ur heading north, if you come up 91-89, stop off in White river Junction and take 5 south. Steves Bait, he'll have some nice pike bait for you as well as any other bait
