Interested in the 20v drills out there now. Are they any better then the 18v drills and which ones are best to use? Thanks for any info.

Dewalt 995 or 996 ...Milwaukee 18v 1200 in/lbs 2704 or 2703.. this is hard to beat ..most picture hanging black Friday models wont hold up....got to use a 4 ah battery or better
-
I would say thousands are using them. Better Quality Brush less drills with bigger batteries is best
-
gotta read the fine print... many of the 20V models are nothing more than 18V models touting the nominal fully charged voltage of the batteries, not the motor voltage/power.

I have a dewalt 20v that works great. I only drill about 15 holes when I go out.. always has enough power to do that.

dewalt hammer drill 20 v don't use the hammer part......20+ holes in 15 inches and still had power
-
Just buy a k drill

I have the clam plate with 20V De-walt brushless drill. I run it on a mora 6 inch for 2 years now and absolutely love it. I can punch 20-30 holes on 1 foot ice with the big battery. Has enough power to run an 8 inch, just have to finesse the last inch so she doesn't bind.

I have Dewalt DCD790 and DCD996 drills - the smaller 790 with a XR5AH battery hooked to a 8" drill with no "Clam" plate - just an adapter shaft - punched 20 plus hole in 16" of ice at Simcoe Lake last year and still had power left to do more - no issues with torque - bigger isn't always better.

Buddy and I run 18V rigid hammer drills. Don't use the hammer function. Mine is an x3 brushed and his is an x4 brushless. Both run 6"Lazer augers and have no problem drilling 60 holes or more on one battery in a foot of ice. Mora augers are awful for drills. They just don't cut like a Lazer. Lazers take no battery at all. We raced it vs. A Nils last year. 5 holes each, same drill, and same ice. Lazer was nearly a second faster each time.
The 20V dewalts are not a true 20 V. They drop right away just and become a 18V or so.
