question is why would anyone use a 6 inch hole ? If fishing for pike.
So they don't have to go to the gym to workout their shoulders??
I use a 6" for everything. I've squeezed plenty of decent pike and trout through a 6" hole. What I've noticed and this is just my own experiencethe last few years fishing Schroon. Schroon can be great at 1st ice. After a week or 2 the action just dies. I did fairly well this past week, but I'll be heading to LG this weekend knowing those common spots on Schroon are going to be a zoo and the fishing is going to shut right down. I'm curious to know if that trend holds true for some of you regulars that fish it throughout the year.
think the added pressure that has been put on the lake the last few years has attributed to some of this also.It is a fairly small lake with limited access and everyone seems to bunch up in the same spots.
The fish was also caught on a jig rod not a tip up.
The reason I took friday off! To hammer em before they've seen every lure made. Even on Saturday the lakers seemed waaaay less suicidal then on Friday, like: "whoa whoa whoa them hooks are sharp". Or: "hey! That's just a hunk of metal painted pretty". JkCmon LG!!
I agree with you jigstick... I as well made it up there Friday, and it was non stop action. I only had to cut 1 hole and I didn't go 15 minutes without at least seeing a fish. It was actually the best I have seen in the 3 years that I have been able to fish Schroon. I went back today for for about 5 hours and noticed that there where about a dozen holes cut at or reasonably near by where I was fishing Friday. Today I didn't see a single fish there. I moved around a bit and managed to catch 4, but I had to work for them. 1 of them had some really nice color to it.(Image removed from quote.)[/URL]On a side note: schrnlkr or anybody else...do you think the whole lake is safe to walk across now? I'd like to venture to new areas.
Has anyone been on Loon Lake? Going up that way, hear the Walleye are good in there.
Is that the one where you got hooked in the lip after the laker spit the hook at you
Laura caught the biggest fish on the season...You
Skunkaroo today. Didnt hardly even see any on the flasher. When I did they didn't want anything to do with it.
Where are the access points on Schroon? I have never fished it before and need a little direction for access and best areas for Landlocked and Lakers and some perch.
