Maybe instead of being the all mighty picture resizing police and trying to make others feel dumb you could offer suggestions to help others who have not done this process yet. Or you could just be an A$$ and criticize others.  :nono: I read many post almost half that have misspellings or improper grammar or the incorrect use of there, their, and they're and so on and so forth but criticizing others is not necessary. Be helpful instead. This is supposed to be a fun and informative sight for ice fishing not facebook ;D

No not surgery - but it could be rocket "science".  Not everyone is a computer "nerd".

What kind of computer and operating system are you using codeword?  Maybe I can give you a tip or two.   ;)

Thanks fishforpike I think I got it figured out in photobucket I'm running of my phone and things are a little tougher that route and you can't see everything like you can with a pc. Just not a fan of those who find it necessary to criticize others instead of offering help or encouragement. Maybe just the way I was raised I guess. You seem to have had the same upbringing  ;D Tight lines and hope the wait for ice doesn't drive us all mad.

Well Codewordcs1, I happen to believe you are among the most astute people on Iceshanty. That pic of ?(your offspring)? with that huge crappie is very well done with the focus on the face and is a great sight to see ~ that big smile truly warmed my heart.
And to be able to post a pic from a cell, well that is quite a trick I haven't tried. I equate that successful attempt by you to far exceed the act of brain surgery through a keyhole, using a crowbar.  :woot:
I wish you many happy returns of seein' the wee one catchin' fish.
My post may have been taken by some to be beyond my intent, but it still stands.
Without the recent PhotoBucket up-grades, posting pics was a huge challenge, but now almost is automatic.
Thank you Codewordcs1 for exercising your 1st Amendment rights.
Stay safe out there and enjoy.

No not surgery - but it could be rocket "science".

It actually was rocket science, back in the 60s, though we left that part to the scientist and engineers. Us hands-on folks were the surgeons and connected blanking covers, hoses, tubing, gauges, timers and other goodies for testing that I must leave unnamed. We called ourselves rocket surgeons to those that would get a laugh from it. We had fun doing a serious job where lives were ah, umm, out there. That's when the phrase became  a part of my humor package and will remain.
We had the patience to get it right the first time and they came back from our natural satellite, the Moon.

Now back to Icefishing. Have a good season that's just around the turn of the calender. Please be safe !   We can't do without any of you.

Another great quote from JT.
Thanks Hoosier, I realize the Mods are very busy and usually only have time for a quick scan for objectionable material and such, so I cannot expect a reread with understanding, as I just know you would find the humor there and see it much differently.  Thanks for bein' a Mod.

Tom thank you for your nice words and yes that is my son and that was last year mid December, 10 below, and 5:30 in the morning he's really quite the little fisherman to say the least. Like the rest of us he's pretty ancy for ice fishing. It was my understanding that this thread was kind of a practice posting your pictures thread. I failed to see your humor and apologize for not keeping an open mind. I wish you the best of luck this upcoming season and will do my best to keep an open mind and post pics of the right size  ;)

I think you understand about this thread and to have a place for practice fits just right, as it shouldn't take 22 pages to just say "Go to Photobucket.com" where it's almost impossible to go wrong. They have really made it easier than only a year ago.
Now if I could learn to type, this would all be easier, ha.
I'm serious.                       A tip-o-the-hat to Codewordcs1

Nice to see everything is "fixed".  It's such a relaxing hobby, ice-fishing, getting ready for it, and reading about it.  It's the waiting for it that is brutal  :P

I'm making this a separate post so members can find it easier  (updated 1-3-08)

Picture Posting Instructions;(from rgfixit with a few modifications)

Your photos must be stored online in order to post them.

You can open a free account with  www.photobucket.com, www.myfishingpictures. com, or www.hunt101.com

The following instructions are for photobucket account members:

To add an Avatar picture to your account...

1st - resize the picture you want to a maximum of 120 x 120 pixels on your computer.
2nd - open up another window to photobucket and upload that photo to your photobucket account.
3rd - Left click on "Direct Link" for that picture (this will copy the photo info)
4th - Open your Iceshanty "profile", then click on "forum profile information" and paste the address to the "I have my own picture" box and check that box. .
5th - Then click on the "change profile" button on the bottom right of that page.
Your avatar should now be displayed in all your posts. You can change your avatar at any time

To post pictures to the site...

1. Upload your pictures to your photobucket account.
2. Resize any pictures you'd like to post to a maximum of 400x600 pixels. Larger pictures distort the forum page and take longer to load. This can be done easily in Photobucket using the "Edit" options.
3. Open your photobucket album and find the photo you want to add. Place your cursor over the picture and a drop down menu will appear. Left click on "IMG Code". (this will copy the photo info)
 4. Go to your post you want to add it to on iceshanty.com, right click and "paste" the info.
(if you copy the image code, it already has the "img" tags on the address and no further action is needed.)

For other photo storage sites that don't install the "img" codes onto your photo addresses, you'll have to add them manually.

The "Add BBC tags:" tool bar is at the top of every message dialog below the "Subject" dialog box and the "Message icon". In the lower row, click on the 2nd icon from the left...the "Insert Image" icon(it looks like a small picture).

The command [ img][/img] will appear in your text message.
Paste the address of your picture between the commands like this;
[ img]paste your image location here [ /img]
Be sure not to add any spaces or other characters.

Preview your post to be sure your picture is there and then choose post.
