It is a given that as soon as you get involved in eating the fish start to bite,so I keep lunch simple. But, frozen sandwitches is a bit hardcore for me. What I have done for a long time is to heat up a canned entree in a double boiler. I set a can of chicken and dumplings, or beef stew, or ham and limas in a can of lake water and boil it with a little  single burner propane stove. Takes quite awhile, but doesn't require much attention.  It's surprising how many good things there are to eat in a single can. Something new on the shelf are the Hormel entrees in plastic dishes available at Wal Mart. I've tried several and they are quite tasty.

Was just wondering what everyone's favorite food to cook is while ice fishing.  For myself it's a toss-up between venison steaks & onions on a roll with lots of Frank's hot sauce with potatoes on the side; or whatever fish I caught and had time to fillet.
One of My favorites is to pack along the portable size webber and a batch of ribs and more ribs if there`s a crew and whatever seasoning is available or if You prefer You can season before heading out to the ice.RIBS ON THE ICE!!!!!!!!!!! IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT.LOL

i bring left over pulled pork, brisket, abt's(atomic buffalo turds),fatties whatever i have sitting around

i also marinate some strips of beef or venison in favorite flavoring night b4, slice up onions, garlic and peppers...saute on the ice and serve on a nice crusty roll or hoagie bun

my favorite ice food is probably hot sausage patty with mustard, and some pickled jalapenos on the side... that will keep ya warm  ;D

the standard - brats, burgers and venison sticks. We have made a pizza on a Smokey Joe a few times and it is outstanding.

i do a little different take on the hot sausage patty

i take a jimmy dean or bob evans sausage, put a rub on it - throw it in the smoker until its cooked - we call it a fatty

tomorrow i am smoking a couple of fatties and a pkg of brats then to the ice tomorrow night
