With the word on the street being this winter is supposedly going to be rough...let's get news circulating: a bad day on the ice is better than a good day anywhere else!

bobby11vd, I'm out of the ice region, down in Stafford, VA but do an annual trip to Lake Champlain every February. Have all the equipment and would like to find places closer to home for some additional time on the hard water. Retired so weekdays are all available, can you fill me in on some locations to consider.

Douger. Depends on the weather.. Western Md has rocky gap state park and deep creek lake.

Haven't fished and western va lakes.

Douger I grew up about an hr away from lake chaplain. I'm not real familiar with the area either but if you are ever looking to go with someone send me a pm

Hess,

I have a feeling that most folks are too depressed by the warm weather to post much. Even during good ice, posts are light. I'll trade ya a trip on Deep Creek for a trip to Champlain, or something if the ice is bad once again this year. Let me know.

Hey guys, I live in NE Baltimore area and am originally from the UP of Michigan. Any word for ice in PA or western MD? Was thinking of doing a trip to Erie in February for Walleye too if anyone wold be interested.

I was talking with a guy from PA last week above Harrisburg and he said there was no ice yet. Very northern part of NY is just starting to get ice so I hope ice is coming. If I find any ice I will let you know. Looking for some people to go with since im new to maryland and dont Have any friends that ice fish yet I'm actually going on a trip to quintie for eyes this February.

I am going to check out Greenbriar (MD) and Sleepy Creek (WV) this weekend. I don't expect it will be thick enough, but you never know. If anyone has info, please post. I will post what I learn.

Fished Sunday afternoon from 12-6 for my first time on the MD hard side . Wanted to get there before daylight but when I got up that morning washer had broke and there was water all over the laundry room. Spent my morning fixing that. Had a slow afternoon but it was really windy had all I could do at times to not take a shanty ride.

Love that pic Hess. I wish I could get out this weekend but have family obligations. The following weekend will be my first time on the ice, weather and ice conditions permitting. I'll be going somewhere in MD or PA, not sure yet where. Maybe Deep Creek or make a drive further North. Please let's get some colder temps...

Thanks fatboy. Yeah I hope it turns cold again after this weekend. Don't think I'm going to venture out this weekend unless I hear the ice is still good on deep creek. Next weekend I am for sure might go back to NY to fish Oneida for walleye if builds more ice next week.
