anybody hitt'n em up yet
« on: Dec 07, 2008, 06:12 PM »
I made my first trip out yesterday to an old reliable spot and only got a few.  I later(daybreak) realized i wasn't quite in the right spot. but it was too cold and windy to move.  I went out tonight to a different lake I've always wanted to try. and did horrible, not even a bluegill.  Is anyone gettin into a pile of crappies yet, and if so how deep.  I was in 30' when i caught them and tried a weedline at 15' tonight and deadsville

In Ontario the limits vary depending on the zone you are fishing & type of licence.
Where I'm at it's 50 perch, 30 crappie and 50 sunfish with a sports fishing licence.
Heading out for the first time this year in a few hours. Reports from yesterday were that the bite was slow. Hopefully better today. Currently it's -15 deg C(5 deg F) with a predicted high of -6 deg C(21 deg F). Very little wind.

Been hittin em in 16-25ft 1-2 ft off the deck. 3pm -7pm is the hot bite on the lake i'm on. Larger minnows and fatheads seem to be the call and pretty aggressive jigging.

I had a good week or two. Limits each time out or close to it. One night was 37 in an hour. Finally hit some decent sized ones as well, few 15's and such. Pics are of diff nights.

Thanks. I stayed off the ice last week, but been back out this week. Moved to opposite end of the lake I been fishing and found a new hole. Took 50-60 in a couple nights out. My count is around 250 this year.  Still finding a few in the 8-10 range only, but most are sticking at 10-11 inches with a few slabs being larger. Monday was 23 fish and these first two were the smallest.
Enjoy
Jeff
