If your not watching the new season, do you really even like fishing ??
-
Episode 1 was great. The premiere was a lot of fun to be at. Nice to meet some of those guys.

I never watched 1st one, or next. Pretty sure I like fishing. Is it on TV?
-
Just go on youtube and type in 39 hours
-
How often do they release episodes
-
episode 2 is tonight @ 730 i believe.
-
the Konrads should win just for that lake trout alone...
I don't think I've ever cheered before watching somebody land a fish on tv.

Me too! I keep re watching that part. Those guys are so stoked!!! Fun to watch.
-
The reaction of the other teams when they saw that Konrads started with a fly in was priceless!
-
wicked show
-
Konrads needed to be humbled!! Are they going to hit some of those stocked trout lakes?? Pipprell lake? Looks like they are already heading south
-
likely, but it probably won't be piprell. lots of other lakes around there that would yield points and i'm sure they know them...wish i did. i'd bet they get the sturgeon, sauger and maybe the walleye points at petrofka. possibly mooneye and goldeye to boot.
haven't been this much into a fishing show since i was a kid watching in-fisherman and babe winkleman.
-
Agreed. I don’t watch the show but I’ve heard the brothers talk about fishing and seen some of their posts on online forums in the past.
Confidence is one thing, but errogance is a whole different beast all together. There’s a very fine line separating the two. If a person chooses the latter of the two, it usually results in a big giant piece of humble pie, and rightfully so.....
-
I'm thinking Manitoba will win
-
As for the twins fishing for sturgeon, I was always under the impression that you weren't allowed to specifically target them in SK. And if you did catch one, you aren't supposed to take it out of the water lettleown measure/ photo it on a bump board.
That got me searching on the sk fisheries act (not just the yearly angling guide). I couldn't find any mention of not targeting/handling sturgeon.
So I guess they're fair game in Sk and I'm wrong?
-
Sturgeon can be targeted in sask. Just a zero limit. I handle and take pictures all summer. Then a safe release.
On a side note there are lots of sturgeon in sask. They could almost open a limit on them. I heard government doesn't open a limit because there is so much poaching of sturgeon. If you ever see set lines in the river report them immediately so the COs can catch the pricks.
-
what is valuable on them? Im guessing the roe going to asia etc?

"Spawning frequency - A female sturgeon reaches sexual maturity when she is 24 to 26 years old and about 55 inches long, and will spawn once every four, five, or six years thereafter. Males mature at about 15 years, when they are about 45 inches long. Most males spawn every other year, while some do so every year"
I'm guessing the zero limit is because they take so long to spswn, and harvesting even a few could potentially have catastrophic reproduction consequences to the breeding population.

I have enjoyed watching season 1 of 39 hours and this year on season 2.
Interesting to see how each team goes about putting fish on the board. @)
I hope in future seasons, they do one on the ice as well.

best show in a long time i agree an ice episode would be awesome
-
Great concept that any fish over 10 inches counts as a point. About 20 years ago I had a fishing league with two other friends. Each fish equal to one point. I used live minnows and crawlers and was in the lead huge, but The other two guys voted to change it so that live bait was worth one point and artificial bait was worth two and they caught up to me. Whose your favorite team? Manitoba all the way!!
-
wow wow wow ! that brown trout was huge, Dief never disappoints! Konrads are rolling
wonder where there last location is ?? any one wanna guess

My guess is they go West! Not my idea. I was thinking NHPP as well at first.
-
NHPP ?? Narrow Hills ? never been, good multi species lake ???
-
NHPP. Narrow hills provincial park. Many lakes with many species. Lots of trout points up for grabs.
-
Except Brown's and Lakers. They got those points locked down hard.

I almost spit my whiskey out when the camera panned downed to show their boat. Haha. What a mess!
-

On the flip side, team tackle box lottery's boat is so clean and organized that it's unbelievable.

That's because it's Paul's boat. Taro's boat is probably littered with empty Swiss Chalet boxes!!!
-
lmao
-
Manitoba's to lose now, AP and Eric are lost, taro and paul have the right idea but are just spinning their tires, I don't think the Konrads can steal enough points. love this show

If the Geeks can get the Burbot point and steal the pike point back it's anyone's game.

You can tell they are the newbs. All the other teams are much more organized, timely and prepared.

I wouldn't describe Taro as timely. Haha Nice to see he put his game face on for the last day!

More focused...less entertaining...and always late. That would drive me nuts!! I was right my my earlier prediction about NHPP. I think the Geeks go back to Tobin to get the pike point back and burbot and walleye.

That was my thought as well. They are headed south at the end of the episode from Zeden.. right toward Tobin. It will be an interesting finish next week. If Taro finds a jumbo perch and white that could shake things up aswell.
-
If i could choose one person to spend a few days in a boat with from the show it would be Paul Castellano. Knowledgeable, organised and seems like a decent guy. Props to him for pairing up with Taro. I don't think i could spend an hour in a boat with him.
-
What a great show! I don’t feel safe as a team Manitoba fan. Up by 3 but Conrad brothers put up monsters. Hopefully In this last episode they will just continue to swat mosquitoes and catch the wrong species.
-
I have a sneaking suspicion that the twins somehow pull this out. What a great season already with the number of different species, monster points, and big swings on the leaderboard. The kicker is that it’s very educational. I’ve really learned a lot from all the teams.
-
pumped for tonight final episode ! I'm almost rooting for another tie, so we get a few more episodes !!
-
My thoughts exactly! Get the beer on ice
-
A tie would be great but also a come from behind win. I cant afford more rounds of snacks and beverages if it goes into OT.
-
Should be a great episode, I have been watching the interview/comments videos leading up to the final. For me, it is fun to get out and fish, boat, shore, ice as much as I can, but hearing these guys trying to make a living out of fishing gives me a greater appreciation for what they do. Sounds like a difficult life. Feast or famine based on the season. Depending on the weather, water conditions etc. would be stressful. Go team Manitoba, points to steal!!
-
Congrats to team manitoba.... Wiebe is one of the greatest anglers ive ever seen... The guy knows his fish... Same goes for the konrads too...
-
i should not have read this
wiebe is deadly
-
I've learned a lot from watching uncut angling over the last few years.
-
Id love an opportunity to fish with him for a day and pick his brain.....
-
wednesdays just aren't the same anymore :-\
-
it was a wicked run
do you think a seasoned angler could do the same in those waters though
I would bet on ranger if anyone!!!

I watched both seasons in the last few weeks. They were pretty enjoyable but I wasn't as super thrilled as some here. The highlight for me was the monster Brown landed by the Konrads. Interesting to see them show what they were using (time to pick up some live target baits). I have never fished Dief and being from PA it's hard to think I should head south to go fishing. But obviously it's the place to go for the biggest Rainbow and Browns in the province by far.
I wasn't surprised they hit up the Narrow Hills for stocked trout, but I would have tried different lakes than any of the ones they did.
