Strikemaster Solo won't turn flyte...
« on: Mar 13, 2015, 08:37 PM »
The engine starts idles fine, but as soon as you give it throttle it bogs right down and does not engage/turn the flyte.  I can turn the flyte by hand - it spins freely.  I'm at a loss as to why it won't turn.  I was drilling a hole when it stopped turning.

Any suggestions as to where to start looking?

with out owning one.
is it new?
can you return it?

sounds like a transmission problem or clutch w/o getting my hands on it.

is it old?
does the transmission have gear oil in it?
have you emptied it and looked for broken pieces or large shavings?

I took apart the gear case right down to the clutch - all minty, no problems. I didn't disassemble the clutch, but when I turned it with my hand, I could feel the engine resistance which is what I should feel correct? When the engine hits higher RPMs the clutch then engages which turns the flyte and when the throttle is back at idle, the clutch spring disengages and the flyte stops turning.

So I feel like it shouldn't be a carb problem, but I checked everything else, so it must be a carb problem. While it's running at idle with the air filter off, if I give it gas it bogs down and spits a fine mist of gas out of the carb air intake hole. Clearly the carb should be sucking air pretty good at WOT.

Close the high speed needle a 1/2 turn,  if it bogs when giving gas, it's flooding.  Oh and I hope the choke is off.

if its bogging mid range its not getting the necessary rpms to engage the clutch to spin the flight..could be lack of fuel if its bogging midrange in the throttle.if it idles good and runs crappy mid to full throttle id clean the main fuel jet.may need a carb rebuild kit but id start out by cleaning the carb first.run some seafoam in it also.
