I am hoping to head up north this weekend to do some ice fishing...finally! I respooled a few of my TUCR that I plan to target Walleyes with this season. What # test do you prefer to use when Walleye fishing in MN? I don't plan on hooking into any big Walleye this weekend as I'll be hitting smaller lakes vs big lakes so I spooled up 6lb flouro on 1 rod/reel and then on my Precision I spooled up 8lb w/ 6lb Flouro leader. I should note that I plan to hit shallower lakes this weekend but when I go to LOTW this winter I tend to use a braid w/ flouro combo.

I like 6# flouro. I have taken lots of walleyes with 2# too.

I'd say I spend the majority of my time on the ice chasing panfish with 2# and maybe 3# line. So spooling up 6# and 8# yesterday seemed like I was putting rope on my reels ha.

6lb mono on the dead stick and 8lb braid on the jigging rod.

I use 4lb mono, gotta use a good reasonably good reel though. I only use 6 when bobber fishing walleye in the summer, heavier line means fewer fish

I run fairly light line. My main jig rods are 4 & 6 lb test. 8lb leader under my tip ups. I also suggest using Fluorocarbon line.
