Rainbow, try what another member here suggested.  Freeze a pail of water and try drilling into it.  There is a guy on Ebay who sells an adapter to use an ice drill with a cordless drill.  He claims he can cut something like 24 holes through 12" of ice on a single charge with an 18 volt battery.  Personally I'm a little skeptical.

Your's might just bind as you need an auger to clean out the hole as you drill.

I'm thinking it's just a way to burn out a good drill.

Captain, how thick is the ice generally?  How cold the temps?  No problems with burning brushes(in the drill) or anything?  Kind of been curious about this.

I'm certain it just wouldn't "cut it" :D where I fish as ice can often be over 36" by new year.

Is it quicker than a hand auger of the same diameter?
Let there be ice.

Theres no effort with the drill ash  8) a good sharp hand auger is still a great tool   8) the true test will be on a lake + how Long the battery lasts

That is cool Rainbow......hmmm maybe after first ice you can still bring that along just in case strange people wander too close to ya ;) ;) 8) BTW I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who puts a pail of water outside to see if it will freeze or not ;D

well, it kind of looks like you dumped that bucket over a few times to get the icechips out. toobad you can't do that with a lake  ;D Looks like it will be OK for 1-1 1/2' of ice or so.

Do the leaves of trees stay greener, in the autumn, does the colour of the sun, turn crimson white? Does a shadow come between us, in the winter?
