Bad News for all NY Fishermen

Just found this article on wrgb's website telling how a study found out that lakes are staying frozen over less.

Hey think about it after the global warming, we will have ice fishing for about 100years if ya go by some scientist's reports, maybe ice fishing will become regular fishing?
Bad news though

Yeah and then a Volcano could erupt tomorrow throwing us into a new cold spell. The earth warms and cools as part of a regular cycle you will hear as many people say we are heading to a new ice age. The problem is no one knows for sure. We try to take 100 or so years of weather history and put that into perspective with a planet that is billions of years old. If there wasn't global warming before how come there were ends to the last ice ages?

Truer words have never been spoken!

I guess NYPIRG is conducting a survey on this one.  Got the word about it last Thursday during ECFSC meeting.  The common question from fellow Federation Members was, what is the point of this survey?  WHat are they ging to do?  Install chillers in lakes to get more ice time?

Besides, as I recall, last year was a pretty lengthy ice season, as was the year before.  Weather patterns fluctuate.  That is Nature....

Its funny.  Ice fishing does indeed fluctuate from season to season, and the economic impact is certainly felt in towns that host ice fishing on their waterways.

However, with participation in Ice Fishing being relatively low in NYS, compared to other winter sports - like, oh, SNOWMOBILING and SKIING...  Poor winters affect far more than us.

We will have these types of seasons, just like we will have real good seasons, too.

True in summer too, isn't it?  If we have an excessively wet season, what happens to these industries?  Food for thought.  Sounds like they're barking up the wrong tree.

We could always tilt the earth a little more on it's axis and guarantee us a longer winter..(an in theory a more severe winter) that wouldn't neccesarily help with global warming, but it would give us a fighting chance!

Maybe we could all drink a guiness at midnight?????

I'm sure Mac would be up to the challenge, but he would binge drink about 30 of them.

I dunno....  Gotta be some old equipment kicking around in the Aud, right?  Hey, I got an idea....  Let's lobby Albany, using this new "research" and secure some huge funding for a study on how to chill the lakes...  We can get millions.  We'll appoint a "board", like the PEace Bridge commission, conduct study after study (while sitting in the local tavern, sucking up a few cold ones at taxpayer expense) and then after milking the taxpayers and becoming millionaires, we can report that all the studies indicate we just cannot do anything about it, but fish when we have ice, and when we do not, well, we'll take the government funding and all buy nice bass boats or walleye boats and fish open water year round ;D

Hey, I think I may be onto something!  Anyone want to form a committee???? ;D

I live right on the Pa. border, but my nephew Frank lives in Lackawana.

So - I guess you could say that.

Back to the topic at hand. Pick up your garbage.

Nicely done - we have enough comittees around the area, and look at the way that the city of Buffalo has turned out.

Cleveland is booming, Buffalo is looming. Enough comittees

I say we do a land survey.Ocean rises 21' is the prediction. We can get in early,on the new ocean front property. There ought to be some good fishing in all that structure that is going to be left behind. ;D ;D

forget the fishing...let's make some $$$ on the "new" oceanfront property and then we can all just kick back and fish full time!  What do you say Mr Longbeard??

Now that's some good thinking. Plus NY will be the new Florida so when it's time to retire I won't have to go anywhere.

"Well ya see, Pikeguy, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

Speaking of global warming.........beer and venison chilli = volitile mix = methane flatuents, hence warming of the atmosphere and depleting of the ozone layer. :roflmao:
