Adirondack Get-Together...The Day After
« on: Jan 29, 2006, 04:37 PM »
Well, what can I say?  The Adirondack Get-Together was a total blast!! On Friday, Harry and I met up with Robb, Ozzy and Ozzy's dad on Tupper do a little pre-fishing...the result: 2 perch and a rockbass.  These fish just were not active at all!

Ozzy and Harry going to the base camp on Tupper...the fishing was so bad we decided to hold the actual Get-Together on Simon Pond, which is connected to Tupper, and holds pike and walleyes.

We met up at the Red Top Inn at 6 on Saturday, where we were joined by Coldbum, Caroga Kid, Bruce, Pikie, and Beermaster (and a friend).  We then went to Simon, where we realized the ice was good enough to drive on...so away we went, with Harry and I leading the train onto the pond.

While setting up our tipups, Caroga Kid got the first fish of the day, a small pike.

Our group on Simon Pond

Finally, here is Coldbum and I with our best fish of the weekend...his was 22" (3.7 lbs) and mine was 21" (3.3 lbs)...

This weekend rocked....Unknown waters are a bear and we made the best of it, we quickly learned friday where not to fish and set out Saturday morning with high hopes, we camped on the ice Saturday night in a cove and into this morning.  Here are a bunch of random shots of from the past days.

Part of the gang from afar

Robb cookin up some delicious treats.

Zach relaxin

Bruce with the barrel

Beermaster seekin relief

Hood, why didn't you tell me you'd never fished Simon Pond??  Off the boat ramp, look right at about the 2:00 position, head out to where the land juts out about 1/2 mile or so away from ramp....pike there and walleyes and some big pike to the right of the ramp, all the way down to the end of the bay.......

What an awsome weekend we had up in the heart of the 'dacks!
It was awsome to meet some new folks and fish with old iceshanty fishing partners!
The fishing was not easy by any means! We all worked our asses off to find the few fish we did nab! I would be happy to fish with any of you all again, name the lake!

BTW BUCKFISH, can you believe we had a keg?  LMAO
IcefishrNY it was nice to meet you and your boy, and thanks for the stogie and cocktail!
Flagrunner? How did you make out? I was kind of bummed to hear ya were not gonna join us on Simon Pond!

Robb, gotta thank ya for all that scouting that ya did Sat that led to me catching your big walleye of the day :D  LOL

Bussman as far as tourney pics go.. I think Ozzy ended up with pic of the fish  being measured and tourney card
I think Robb got the pic of me and the fish on the ice.  (can ya fellas send them out when ya get a chance?)  [email protected]

Tight Lines All,
Coldbum!

2 questions.
Is NY 5 traps and a jig pole, or just 5 holes per beer drinker.
& how deep were you picking up the Eyes.
Thanks,
Upton

Where do you think there is a good safe ice around us, nothing around us to drive out on yet. And if ol'mother nature, doesn't bring on the cold soon, we'll be fishing out of our boats come March. What a lack of ice for icefishing this year. Even the small lakes are iffy in areas, and up north,  ::) you can drive out on the ice with trucks.  >:( Man, we need some cold @ss weather or, heck getting about time to melt and get the boats out on the water.  :-X

I had a great time.  It was great to meet everyone that came up.  Thanks Zach for pulling it all together.  Putting something like this together is not easy, and can be a lot of pressure!  If any of you guys come back up this way, send me a PM, maybe we can get together again.  I can't wait to sink those 15 inch ciscos down into the depths....!!!  It might take the whole season to get a hit, but if it happens, it could be a monster.

Zach, looks like you've got a pretty good idea of where to go this saturday. Good luck, we'll be out there on Simond as well. Also, one quick question....Bruce, from the pictures, i cant think of his last name but i went to school in Delhi with him. We were in the carpentry program and worked together for this greedy old man in a small town of about 100 called Andes (like the mints). I saw him in gander mtn last winter up in P-berg and had to do a double take before turning around to shake his hand. If you can get ahold of him in any way, we should all get together and hit the ice some time.

Hi My name is Rob and I found this sight a few weeks ago.  I love to ice fish and really liked reading bout this get together.  Sounds like a great time.  I was wondering if you would tell me where the boat ramp is located on simon pond?  A buddy and I are thinking about going up on Monday to check the place out.  Also wondering what depth you were catching the eyes?  Thanks
