There is a separate conditions board that has lots of info. You need to have 3 or 5 posts before you can access it.  Reply to this a couple times and you should be good to go.

http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?board=50.0

As for Chautauqua, there is a lot of snow on it making it marginal for this weekend.  Lots of areas not safe.

Don't want to kill any desires but if I was thinking about fishing Chautauqua this weekend I would proceed with caution.
I have passed by several times during the week and saw foot prints one day only going out no more then 30 feet, plus saw an Amish man walking back in carrying an auger - think the foot prints may have been his.  Same day I understand a man feel through the thin ice.  Last weekend pretty much most of the lake was open and with the high winds I noticed ice via the web cam (http://www.eastlakewoodweather.com/) had been pushed on top of the already thin skim coat of ice.  In other words the populat fishing area about half way out could have - very poor ice conditions with the recent snows laying on top.. Using a spud would be a smart thing to do if you want to take a chance.  As for me its gonna be next week or later depending on weather and if I see others on the ice.. Good luck, have fun, but think....Love ice fishing but hate cold water dips..

Anybody know what the ice thickness is on various parts of the lake north end through south end. I see I have to post some more to look at the reports.

From the sounds of things Mayville might be a better choice. The panfish will keep the kids hoppin.

I would definitely take them to Mayville, they will have a riot.  I took my wife on the ice for the first time at Mayville two weekends ago and she couldn't keep fish off her line!

Sounds like I will be in Mayville this Saturday. Was gonna go to the public launch but this thread is point to Mayville.
Would i be wise to bring my Flag tip up's? Or just use my jigging rods?
A bad day fishing is better than being at work.
