Fresh air vents?
« on: Nov 17, 2013, 04:20 PM »
I am going to put some fresh air vents in my perm shanty as it is air tight and every time I open or shut the door my Nu Way stove that is vented goes out. I am going to put those 2" round aluminum soffit vents in but my question is do I put them in towards the floor or towards the ceiling and how many? Any suggestions would be great

I put metal fins slanting down on the outside, if you attach an old flexible 2 inch pool filter hose with self tapping screws on the inside then put a bend in it, no light can enter if a spearing shack. Then cut an old foam pool noodle like a large cork and you can plug vent when enough fresh air is in. Put cork on a string and attach to pool hose, so never misplace foam plug. (2) I also put some in without the hose, pull foam plug and put your eye close to fins and you can see tipups outside.

Both. Depends on your sq footage. At least every 3'. Air will draw in, rise, and circulate out due to heat.

Mine is a 4x8 foot shanty, I have 5, two inch vents, never need them all open. Wind, outside temp and how tight door is all factor in to your decision.

One at sealing and one at floor on opposite sides.
