Funny story....

A friend and I headed for a road trip this past weekend in search for pike.

We were fishing with a couple of fellow "shanty" members....great guys! This was their home base so I had to sign a "confidentiality" agreement beforehand and told them that I'd refer to it only as "Pond X".

About 10 am I noticed I didn't have my cell phone...must have left it in the truck so I decided to take the long trek back to get what I needed.

Before I left my buddy said to me.....if your flag goes up, I'll get it. I laughed and said...sure...but call me if I'm already at the truck and I'll come running.

As we walked back onto the ice ....I saw in a distance three guys away from our camp and crowded around my flag!

We picked up the pace and started running.....suddenly an image on the ice appeared....a LARGE object.

I got to the tilt and saw this beautiful 18 lb plus pike laying on the ice.

My friend "They Eat Ducks" got his PB pike

on my tilt and I just laughed and shook my head.

After some pictures of him....I decided I would get into the action.

I had over 500 ft of line on this tilt....Mike from Indian Hill had placed 300 feet on the reel and than I added an additional 200 feet.

This fish took almost all of the line out...what a rush.

Moral of the story...never leave your tilts for even a moment....but if you do , make sure you have a friend that will "willingly" take your flag when needed

on me. It was an honor & a privelage to catch it on your "Sizzling Hot" Indian Hill Traps !! Thanks again

(Good thing you already have 2 over 20 lbs., otherwise it might sting a bit.)

what a heartbreaker that would have been if it happened to me. getting a huge fish on and not being there to pull it in. but congrats man. u guys are on fire with the big fish.

Nice fish..what county did you find 2 inches of snow? 3 feet everywhere else in NE.

Good for TED, nice to have buddies cover for you when have to go back to the rig or drop a duece in the woods! Must have been a mess of line at that hole, how long did it take to rewind PB? Was it the furthest trap too?
