Eddy Pond in Auburn
« on: Feb 15, 2010, 06:33 PM »
Hit the ice for a few hours this AM with my stepdaughter, typical Eddy, lots of flags and fish, nothing to really brag about though.  Great place to bring kids to get them hooked on fishing...

Final tally, about 1/2 dozen Pickerel, a couple of bass a crappie and a yellow perch in about 3 hours.

You have a lot to brag about!  That picture is great.  I'd rather have Cam get a small pike with me than a trophy pike by myself.  Get  them out there as much as you can.

She seemed to really enjoy herself this time... We went earlier this year but I think it was a bit too cold for her.  That and the flags were not flying all over!!!

Good day when you rip through your bait in 2-3 hours.

This looks like a great pond to bring kids.  I'm supposed to go Friday with 4 young boys that have never ice fished before.  I'm not familiar with that area myself.  Is there parking?  Bait shop close?  Was there plenty of ice?  Any advice would be apprecaied...

Barry's Bait on Rt 20 in Worcester (Marine USA) or Hillside Tackle in Webster.

Parking at the boat ramp on South St, you can pretty much only go straight out or to the right as the left is very shallow and stumpy.  Not too much to give you beyond that, I've seem people pull fish out pretty much anywhere they set up.   I've heard of some big pickerel and bass but have never seen one.  Setup a medium shiner 1-3 feet off the bottom and you should be set.

Bring a jigging rod, perch to keep you busy. 12"+ of ice anywhere...I need a powerauger but everyone's sold out!!!
