I find that an Autolite or NGK work better if you can cross reference them. I use Autolite in my Jiffy, but it is 2 hp.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

For maintenance on your Giffy go to there web site and they have a downloadable area for your Jiffy 30 with everything you need to maintain your auger...also if you are curious you can email them with your ssn of your auger and they will tell you what year it was manufactured.... hope this helps

Here's the address for the manual                                     http://www.jiffyonice.com/manual.htm

  CHAMPION # RJ-17LM.

  GAP.-3O.

  FUEL MIX.-24:1.
I know this is an old post but the fuel mix is not 24/1 but 40/1. Now I know you can tinker with this some what but I wouldn't think tinkering with it by  16/1 would be to much. The manual says 40/1 or 3.2 oz. per Gal.

R stands for resistor type plug...the resistors are to keep electrical  static ( from the ignition system) from interfering with televisions and radios....

Great post.
The fuel mix printed on my tank is 24:1
I just had my “30” n the shop, they replaced my plug with a J19, and she runs rough.  Would the J17 made any difference in performance?

The J19 is a hotter plug than the J17. If the books call for a J17, I would put a J17 in it. (I'd also ask the shop why they put a J19 in it.)

Jiffy now recommends a 40:1 mix for all models this includes the 2&3 HP Tecumseh models.  You can go to there website at jiffyoncie.com to verify yourself.

Google Jiffy model 30 user manual and you will find all the info you need on plug, gap, and fuel mixture recommendations, as well as a full parts list and exploded view of your machine. I would print it off for future reference. Just a suggestion. I did this for my Strikemaster. Good Fishing! Ski
