Petromax Lanterns

Is anyone out there familiar with the Petromax lanterns?Have been researching them on the web ,trying to gather some insight. I have found out that they are expensive,(roughly$100) for the lantern itself,$45 for the shade,$20 for the carring case and about $50 for the cook grate that screws onto the top. I realize that this sounds a little NUTS for a lantern! BUT I could use it as a multi-purpose tool for ice fishing, hunting, camping etc... from what I have gathered they put out approx. 8-10,000BTU(that is a lot of heat) I could light, heat and cook out on the ice with one light weight unit(might be worth the money). They are a multi fuel lantern, they give off 400 watts of light. My fuel of choice would be kerosene(about the safest) If anybody has any experience with these things would greatly appreciate any feed back. My main interest, would be the the actual heat out put(btu)  generated from the lantern.   Thanks,Lester
