I was just up there last weekend. The ice was good, at least 6 inches with no slush. The fishing was poor with little action; and not just for me, everyone else I talked to reported the same.
-
Went yesterday afternoon and the fishing was slow.caught one nice rainbow and one smaller one as well. 9" inches of ice where we were at on the lake.
-
what kind of test?, you are really telling us alot
-
How deep were you fishing?
Thanks!

What happened to TEST< TEST< TEST?

Sorry i apologize about the lack of information we were in 10 ft of water that day.
-
Im also new to this page. So still making the rounds and trying to make quality reports. So please bear with me. I will always post my day on the ice as best as i can. But all questions are welcome as well.

I tried to fish the lake yesterday. To me it was miserable, not worth the trip. About a foot of snow with about 3in of slushy water under the snow where I was, around 75 yards out from the ramp. It was difficult to get the sled out that far. There was 2 other groups there without sleds that had the same problem walking.
Ice is a good 10in thick. Depth was 10ft clear water. No wind. I was there for 4 hrs and only marked 2 fish on the vex that didn't slow down to look at the hook. I got there at 9am, left at 1pm. The road from Ovando is snow packed and plowed to the lake.

Brows just gets slower and slower as winter progresses. Can mark fish but making them bite is tough. Sounds like rough conditions. Might be time to build a smitty sled if our winters are going to be more warm and wet...
-
I'm not sure if the smitty would make it worth it for me.i put skis on my sled and that didn't seem to help under these conditions. I think I will join the rest of the fishers at Georgetown.

I was there on the 3rd. Slush, about 10"-12" of ice. no luck. Saw one fish caught, weight 3 1/2 lb. Beats watching golf on TV!
-
I was out on Monday 1/15/18 noon until dusk. Beautiful day with views of the mountains, elk on the ridge above the hwy to the east and whitetails around the shore. Alas, no fish! Saw two other groups catch one each. Road is good, and ice is over 12" under six inches of variable slush, beat-up and tracked frozen slush, but didn't stand in water anywhere we fished. Marked a few.

Anyone have fishing report for Browns Lake?
-
Last time it was fished was 1/15/2018 according to Reply #14...Wow, almost 5 years ago...What an old thread...If you know where the Montana Fishing Reports & Conditions section is you may or may not find some fresher info there...Good luck to ya !!

Heading to Browns Lake tomorrow am. Will post results tomorrow pm.
-
Got to Browns Lake around 8am. Ice 15 inches thick. Road from Ovando to Lake was in great shape. Caught 2 bows 14 and 18in. Weather was great. Very slow after 11am. Used maggots and worms. 15 ft of water.
-
I haven't fished it in a while but from my experience it gets pretty slow and slushy by February. I also have switched to using bright small plastics with pro cure for better results than the usual live bait. Lots of 18+" fish to be had at browns for sure. And I usually try to fish 12 to 16' north of the ramp after about 8 am.

How is the road?
