Ice Fishing Conditioning Drills

Time to start training camp for ice fishing.  Coach Bob's drills have been proven to work.  See following:

Drill #1 - Put Bag of cement in sled and drag around house 3 times including  bare driveway to simulate parking lot conditions.

Drill #2 - Set up fan on kitchen counter and thread #2 pound test fluorocarbon line through painted over eye of Marmooska jig while fan on high speed.  Remember to stare directly into light bulb while doing this.  Tie knot and repeat.

Drill # 3 - Put two ice cubes in each hand, close fist tight and  and hold until completely melted.

Drill #4 - Place flasher unit on counter, turn it on and stare at screen for 45 minutes,

Drill #5 - Practice U turns or 3 point turns on street to simulate going back home to get something you forgot.

Drill #6 - Get old glove and bury Marmooska jig hooks into it.  You have 1 minute to get each hook out.  Repeat 3 times.

Drill #7 - Take 3 Exlax  and get on Interstate highway and see how far you can get.  Record this vital information for future on ice use.

After completing the above, go to local beverage center with walk in cooler and sit on bucket in cooler while performing 5 sets of 12 oz. curls with each hand.  Great cool down exercise after completing workout.

P.S.  Drill #7 usually dictates who makes the cut.

#7 is a good one!

Our company uses TP without the cardboard tube, and when they get to about 3" in diameter the tend to pull/fall out of the holder.
I collect these on occasion and keep a few in my truck "for emergencies".

I haven't had to use them for road-side emergencies, but my brother forgot to buy TP for his house and when nature called I went to the truck and brought in a couple of rolls and said "Next time use your hands".

What I find funny (in a wasteful way) is that a 3" roll of this paper is more than half a roll of any "tubed" roll.

Although this list is more of a joking scenario, it does help if you do have some conditioning routine to prep yourself for the season.
I do free weight reps with 5lb. dumbbells to get my hand auger muscles in shape.
That and lots of trudging thru slop now to prep for the frozen crap later on.

Oh, and making sure the truck is prepped as well, so that trips aren't ruined because of mechanical issues.

For those that don't like #7, Try #8 which is fill bathtub with cold water, dump in three bags of ice cubes, sit in tub for 30 minutes with life preserver on and yell "help".  Repeat until saved.

That there is some good stuff. Funny part is, we literally go through them all at some point every season. Sad part? We can't wait to do it all over again next year.

Tie breaker for team cuts is the always popular - Sit on jigging rapala lure and try to get it out of your backside while pretending nothing happened.

Absolutely critical  ;D ;D
