Lake Helena
« on: Dec 26, 2016, 08:51 AM »
This is the first of my two posts. I live only a few minutes from lake Helena. I have been out multiple times with multiple different fishing styles and have not had one bite. The last attempt was ice fishing 75 yards off shore with meal worms. What should i be fishing for and with what? Have never really fished in a lake that is so shallow.  I didn't have any problems catching fish at Canyon Ferry but lake Helena is much closer. Any advice would be appreciated if not post # 1 down :D.

Post number 2. This might be cheating but i am trying to get out fishing and want to see the depth of the ice. The boys and I are itching to try out all the sweet fishing gear Santa brought!

There's some info about Lake Helena within the Hauser conditions pages.

If you're looking to keep kids busy, you may want to consider one of the other nearby (and better) options.
YOU are the only one who can decide if the ice is safe enough for you.

If you can catch Kokanee from lake helena or hauser best go and get a lottery ticket
They are still in there but rare
The past several years or so fishing there alot I've only managed 5 or so from open water and ice
If your talking HVVR (helena valley regulating reservoir)
