Wifi Cameras
« on: Aug 26, 2014, 10:25 AM »
I am very interested in getting a camera for this ice season.  The wifi cameras sound great in theory and the ability for multiple people to view it is great.  Recording and viewing on my ipad will be nice in the shack.  Looks like the Aqua Vu below isn't out yet, but Vexilar has one.

Anyone use one of these or have an opinion?

Thanks
Nick

My buddy bought one last year and he really liked it. The only problem I saw with it is you need a shack or some kind of cover to really see the ipad screen during the day. And maybe that was just due to the settings he had on his ipad I don't know. But it seemed to work great for him.

I'm looking at upgrading too, the old AquaVu Scout isn't cutting it anymore and I want to downsize. AquaVu's Looking Glass seems interesting, but I'd need to see a little more on it.

the flaw I see in the marcum is the battery is to the one side this will make the unit off balanced when you go to pick it up. the Vex Fish Phone has the battery in the center of the case.  plus for the marcum is a 9AH battery where as the vexilar only has a 4.5AH battery. I will be running a Vexilar Fish Phone this year. I got a good deal on it and wanted to try it out. looking forward to using it this year. I will post a review after the season has started as to how I am liking it.

I bought the vex one last winder and just used it in my fish house with my nook hd and it worked great. looking forward to using it this winter.
using it outside, i don't know. battery life in the tablet might be limited. haven't tried it. the camera worked great.
