Jiffy Augers

Has anybody else had a problem w/ the pin coming out auger.  I just bought a new Jiffy & 3rd time using it I'm standing there w/ just the motor in my hand, auger in 9 ft. of water.  Lucky friend had a underwater camera, 45 min. later next day was able to retrieve.  I got lucky, but it's a very poor design, just a push pin going thru no keeper on it.  I took it for granted, but that won't happen again.  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or letting others know to check theirs.

As I recall, the older ones used a socket head cap screw (allen head) which was pretty reliable, BUT requited a tool.

The later STX units have the pin captured by and attached to a polyurethane sleeve.

You could add a lynch pin, BUT then you would have a rotating protrustion that could grab clothes etc.
