CJG, I use JADA bait. Good prices, good bait, reasonably fast service, and NO shipping charge. I'm sure there are others but this place has worked for me.  Lou

I ordered some brightly colored maggots from Knutson's the other day.  I did not think the price was too bad.  they are a sponsor of this site.  I hope to have them to fish with by Friday.

im gonna have to say most of you are wrong. even though you all probably have more experience that me. but, id get both, bring both, play it safe, and see what they're hitting. sometimes they want big things, sometimes not. sometimes you gotta wad on the spikes, or just put on a waxie. all depends on the bite.
Your correct evaxx.  Most of us have all the above on hand and more.  Never go unprepared. Good thought.

Vados bait has great prices on Spikes, and they hold up really well.

this may be true, but 95% of the time with us, if they'll hit a waxie, they'll hit a spike.  can't say that the other way around in my experience.  and since a spike is easier to work with , its the prefered bait of choice in my shanty.

I take both, I just put on whatever I feel they might want then adjust from there. Some times I'll even put on 1 waxy then a spike and then another waxy or the other way around. I do like the I can get the colored spikes, wish the waxies could come that way.

A Spike is a nicer word than Maggot.
And when my wife asks whats in the little container in the refrigerator I say Spikes. If I said Maggots they wouldn't be in the refrigerator.
