Nice fish. My wife showed me this pic. She is friends with his sister.

Keep it or release? A lot of giants have been caught there recently. Saw 2 others posted online in the last 2 days.

awesome.

What do you mean sending Doc's into the state? Is he getting a replica? If so, from someone locally?

Will be a replica. Somebody local good? He has a salmon getting done by Bryan at Anglers Choice Fish Mounts. As far as the document I was referring to the NYS Angler Achievement Program.

I believe the state has a catch and release program. It is great for the kids, plus, it teaches them that not every big fish has to go on the wall...h2l

I was asking for my own curiosity. I wasn’t sure if there was a good local replica taxidermist. I caught a big one in the fall and I am looking for a replica mount as well. So far it looks like I am going to have lax reproductions in Minnesota do it.

Fished yesterday and the parking and access was GREAT at Wally's (address previously posted by another member a few pages back).  Highly recommend!

We walked 1.5 miles out to the big island.  5 hours 2 total flags and one 16" walleye..... went after the monster and it looks like he bit someone else's tip up yesterday.

Rented a house with a bunch of buddies on GSL over the weekend that was about 1 mile south of the Conkingville Dam - was a little worried about the ice that far North but it ended up being a solid 20" everywhere I drilled.  Fished 2 days with 20 tip-ups and only managed 1 fish.  But it was an awesome one.  44.75" with a 22.25" girth.  A buddy of mine from the trip is having it mounted.  It was our 1st trip to GSL and have never caught anything like that thru the ice.  Need to work on landing these fish so they can be safely released in the future, but definitely a great memory from the trip..

sad to see this type of stuff happen.  sad that you have to worry about someone taking your stuff, so you have to haul it all back and forth everytime.

Anyone know how much snow is on the ice? and is there any slush under the snow?  I was hoping to bring the four wheelers next weekend for the contest. Snowmobiles are ready to go but a few guys in the group only have ATVs so hoping they are also an option.   Also i will be staying near sand island and hope to fish toward the scout island channel, is there any bad ice spots to watch out for over that way?   Have not been on the lake this winter and double checking.   Thanks guys
