Biggest ice fishing trap I've ever
« on: Jan 13, 2007, 04:25 PM »
Here is the biggest ice fishing trap I've ever seen. I met this guy on Hall's pond, yesterday and asked if I could take a couple of pics for iceshanty. Cool, huh?

I've seen a guy on Sebago use home made magnum traps one time, he had his traps sread out over about a 1/4 mile, they were about 6' tall and he put small orange cones next to each and the flags were about 6"X4".  He was watching them with BinOCs, it was quite a sight.  he would chase down a flag on his sled.    It was cool.  the guy told me he made them in his garage over the summer with some spare maple he had laying around.  Called them BIG LAKER TAKERS!!  LOL

haha, way to go overboard there killer, I wasn't saying that guy was wrong to use the flag, I said if I were to do something neat like that I would use some other then the flag because of my own oppinion. and another oppinion I feel strongly for is people sending offensive PM's to me, you need to handle that anger problem of yours there big boy. keep my dad out of this.

sorry for stealing the post with frozen nuts and My nonsense, something I was thinking of, who thinks it would be better if the flagpole was a bit longer so the flag was closer to the ice when it wasn't triggered, my eyes are so used to seeing a flag that high up meening it has a fish. but then again, with much longer of a flagpole and that flag is gonna be up in the clouds when the hungry laker swoops in. I bet that big of a flag causes a real issue with wind trips.

I'm with Neal , i don't like to see that either. it's disrespectful,  even if he meant well.

replace the wood with some aluminun, that'll wake the snowmobilers right up if they found one of the traps.

Flag edicate dictates that the flag is only to be flown upsidedown when in a state of distress, such as a sailboat or powerboat in distress.  Protesters have taken to flying the flag upsidedown to indicate that they think the country is in trouble.  Many people take that as an insult, especially those that have served in the military.

Maybe the guy didn't mean it that way, maybe he did.  Folks are just posting what they feel.

All I want to say is, "That guy knows Halls Pond"   He is on the hot spot, hope his tip up worked better than others. Most had to jig right there to get some nice brookies.
