Batteries= Heated Accessories
« on: Sep 09, 2005, 10:12 AM »
I use a motorcycle battery with a temperature controller when I fish MD/PA hardwater and there's no need for propane or chemical warmers.

I don't typically use a sled but how many of you use ATV's or snowmobiles to go to and from?

Sorry to answer your question with a question.....I have a marine battery that I use in the summer time for my trolling motor on the boat.....does anyone else bring one of these bad boys with them in the winter on the ice.....if so, what do you run off it and how do you go about hooking up to the battery?

Mac,
Certainly didn't want to ruffle admin's feathers by advertising.
Sorry to offend if I did.

I do work for Gerbing's so I thought I'd chime in considering I'm an avid hardwater angler myself. Not looking to sell here but learn more about what other parts of the country are doing for heat.

If any of you have any specific questions please PM me and we'll speak offline.

Tight lines!

Dan

Welcome to IceShanty, Dan. You mentioned you fish MD/PA border area, where about do you usually fish? I've fished with a few guys from MD, they live close to the baltimore area.  I think once you have 3 posts, you can then send and receive PM's (just an FYI).  You didn't break any rules by posting that you work for Gerbings. Good luck this season.

Bean,
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I actually live just South of York and we do quite a bit of hardwater in Deep Creek Lake, MD, Lake Redman, and Codorus.
Not the longest season but great panfish and walleye action.

Keep in touch and tight lines!

I got some battery operated socks for Christmas, do they work to keep your feet warm?   Not that I ever get cold feet, my boots work well, but just thinking out loud.

Himo,

Dan @ Gerbing's is not my e-mail address and just to clarify the sponsorship that Gerbing's has undertaken with Ice Shanty:

Gerbing's is a 2006 award sponsor only, not a site sponsor. Hopefully with the overwhelming support and e-mails we've responded to from members of this site we will be be part of the family this year.
Thanks Himo and good catch on the mis-interpretation of my previous post.

I wish everyone good luck in the tourney and keep the e-mails and questions coming. It will only benefit the sport and to keep us all more productive and comfortable.

Hey Dan, no problem. I am just doing my job as a cyber cop on iceshanty. I really do hope that you guys consider becoming fullsite sponsors. You appear to have a very fine product and this site will give you the exposure you need. Talk to Scott.
