It's been below zero for about the past 5 mornings. Sunday morning +27* when I awoke.
Snowed on/off during the day & tallied about 3" of snow.
Quit snowing about 8:00pm & it was +30* outside.
9:00pm..........+33*.
10:00pm..........+37* and a very light rain.
It's now 1:30am..........+41* and the occasional rain drops hitting the living room windows.
Mother nature changing it up I guess !!
Are y'all having this wacky weather ??
-
I let the dogs out this morning and it felt like a heat wave! Wonder if these weather changes are going to mess with the bite?
-
freezing rain on top of 5 inches of snow and just got done plowing in the rain what the heck is with r weather?
-
Drove through Gold Creek on the way home last night around 10:00 and it was pouring rain and 40 degrees. Goofiest weather I have seen in a while.....
-
We're up to -10 here in Great Falls at 10:30 am. I don't think our ice is going away for awhile.
Ken......
-
supposed to get close to 40 next week :/ hopefully it will settle the snow.
-
Yeah, it's been crazy in Missoula. Been getting plenty of OT having to plow snow every week for the last month. Heard somewhere it's the coldest winter in 26 years with an overall avg. Temp of 16.9 degrees.
-
Starting 2morrow it looks like another four mornings of below zero. Next Wednesday is forecasted to be +40*.
Mother nature is definitely mixing it up this winter.
-
3:45pm - The thermometer on the front porch reads 50* and the water is just pouring out the gutters.
Quite the change over the previous week.
-
As long as we remain stuck in this inversion it seems unlikely things will get too sloppy here in the Helena Valley. Our temp peaked at 23 today. Townsend appears to have similar conditions.
-
That sounds like a better scenario B L. Just lost the sun a few minutes ago & I noticed it melted almost all the snow off the house/garage. Didn't expect that today. Oh well.....It's winter in MT so I'm sure it won't last.
-
I drove through Great Falls today and the truck read 55*, no lie. It was -32* on the HiLine about a week and a half ago so 55* today felt like Mexico to me @)
-
I hear ya H T. Hit 51* here at the house today. Hard to believe how much snow melted with 2 days of this weather. Looks like it's going to start cooling down here Friday with single digit lows forecasted.
-
Well.....Roughly 6" of snow in the past six hours & still coming down hard. This is just terrible timing for me right now & it looks like more in the forecast.
Sunday was 50* and Monday was 47*. I was actually able to get out in the yard on my crutches & painfully endure a little exercise. That sun sure felt good !!
Now I'm going to be stuck here in the house because I can't chance taking a spill out there & possibly breaking some bones.
Heck.....I even thought of inching my way the 20ft. to the garage to see if I could somehow straddle the ATV & do some plowing. Best not risk it tho.
Guess the wife & daughter are going to be on snow duty for the time being - LOL.
I bet G'Town is getting pounded right now.
Take care everyone & be safe out there !!
-
Hope you're mending up spitzo.
Sounds like the weather goofs in NW Montana are calling for a "once every few decades" storm cycle over the next couple days. I'm tired of shoveling snow.
-
snowed another 6" last night in Missoula. The World Theater just collapsed about 2 hours ago. The north west part of the state is supposed to get obliterated the next couple days..... :o
-
9" of snow plus -16* on Monday/Tues here, 43* above on Friday.... 59* temp difference in 3 days... I wonder if the old guys at the diner will have anything to discuss over their coffee and cinnamon rolls this week ???
-
HA HA HA !!!! They wont shut up all day!!!HA HA HA! GOOD ONE.....
-
Hope you're mending up spitzo.
Thank you sir.....Appreciate that !!
I'm just hoping the ice sticks around long enough for me to at least get out on the hardwater a few times this season. I guess time will tell.
-
Well.....It just poured rain here for a solid 4 hours.....Now it's whiteout blizzard of large wet snowflakes.....I Love Montana !!
Heard you folks in the northwest part of the state are getting hammered with snow.....News said measuring it in feet not inches.....You all stay safe !!
-
So here is one for the ages. Driving down I-15 yesterday morning headed to Holter at around 7:00 am. Thermometer in the truck showed 2 degrees and it is accurate within a degree or two. My buddy says what the heck is that. I ponder it for a second and conclude that it in fact was raining in 2 degree weather. It was hitting the windshield and immediately freezing. One of the craziest things I have ever seen.
-
That is crazy & can make for an unsafe situation in a hurry. Did the road freeze up on ya too ??
-
Teton Pass Ski Area: 53 inches in 48 hours. :o
-
No, it didn't make things that treacherous as we bailed off the interstate about a mile down the road anyhow. Just was happening in a bit of a swath about 2 miles long. I imagine that it could have gotten real nasty very fast if it lasted for a while. I can tell you there were people not using their brains driving in the dark yesterday morning.
-
Good to hear.....It's now blue skies & sunshine here haha.....All 4 seasons within roughly 6 hours.....Go figure !!
-
Heard you folks in the northwest part of the state are getting hammered with snow.....News said measuring it in feet not inches.....You all stay safe !!
This is true. The drive to work & back was great today; I dug myself out of the garage this morning in an attempt to conquer SNOWMAGEDDON 2017 and just finished digging myself back into the garage just now. Darn good thing shoveling snow in a rush to beat the time clock is my favorite thing in the world next to breaking trail in 4x4 for 35 miles, oh wait...... By the way Spitzo, I made it @)
-
Snownado all day long, must have plowed and shoveled for 6 of my 8 hours at work the other 2 hrs were drinking coffee to fight off the wind chill. Saw some blue skies too Spitz. But we just call those "sucker holes"! ;) Stay safe everyone!
-

So your day consisted of a workout before work, treacherous ride to work, a shift at work, treacherous ride home & another workout once you got home. Sounds like one heck of a day & good to hear it was a safe one. Just how much snow did you get ??
-

Snownado...lol. Sounds like you had a nice day at work. The blue skies lasted about an hour them it started snowing again. Put down about 1/2 inch is all. Partly cloudy out now. Are you all getting more snow than usual Kyle ??
-
Yeah its been an above average snow fall here in town and also at most of the surrounding snotel stations. Sure is keeping all the sled heads and skiers happy. Ice fishers seem to just take what they can get and as long as we have ice until late April, I'm fine with whatever.
-
And just to add to the greatness of it all, it was -32* on the Chevy on the drive in just now...
-
Burrrrrrrrr.....To damn cold.....Great for making ice, but the older I get the less I like being out in it. 20* w/light snow flurries here right now. Stay warm !!
-
we had a heck of a melt on Sunday and they are calling for 48 again tomorrow. I ordered my new boat validation decals yesterday ;)
-
Yep.....good melt here Sunday as well. Monday night thru this morning we picked up about 4" of snow tho. Looking like 44* for tomorrow, high 20's/low30's for the weekend & next week looks to have some 40* temps forecasted. Geez.....in a few more months it will be time to pull the 5th-wheel out of storage. That's a depressing thought right now lol !! Take care & stay safe everyone !!
-
It's supposed to be in the 40s for a while here, which of course comes with 30 mile an hour winds

-
It's been snowing all day here in the Northern Bitterroot after a couple days of warm/rainy weather. Crazy for sure!
-
Those wind speeds are just no good B L.....Keep yourself planted to the ground sir !!
It's been snowing here for close to 3 hours now. It's 36* outside so it's not sticking.
-
get the hip boots out going to need them. slushville returns to western Mt. just got done pushing wet heavy snow around and roads have turned to washed board fun. hope we all get a deal on shocks and struts for the cars and trucks taken a beating this winter. looking forward to next week and sun
-
Looks like cool enough temps to keep our ice but with the amount of snow we have... hip boots might be too short :o
-
50* in Butte today...
-
Same in GFalls
-
Went to bed at 2:00am & temp was 32*. Woke up at 7:15am & the temp was 46*.
Right now it's raining, strong winds & 48*.
High of 51* forecasted for today. I bet it gets a touch above that.
Get out the hip boots & stay safe !!
-
It finally cracked 32* here in Helena but no wind yet.
-
wow has rained all day here! Kitchen ceiling started leaking so I had to get on the roof and try to break up the ice dam in the valley :( ... after 30 minutes and little progress (ice was about a ft thick on the eave) I went for the chainsaw! High risk, high reward!! 4 1/2 hour later leak has almost stopped... definitely got my reps in today :flex:
-
Geez, we shot up from 36 to 52 in about an hour when the SW breeze came up.
-
Geez, we shot up from 36 to 52 in about an hour when the SW breeze came up.
I noticed that too. CRAZY WEATHER!!!!
-
We call that a Chinook wind in Great Falls. LOL. One of the very reasons I actually live here. You can get up in the morning when the temperature is cold like it was this morning. Zeroish at my house and by 12:30 when I went home for lunch today, the thermometer in my truck read 55 degrees. The warm and the wind causes the streets to melt off. Not like the streets normally are in Helena during the winter. I grew up in East Helena many moons ago. I distinctly remember my senior year of High School. January 1981. The temperature never got above zero the entire month of January because of the inversion that covered the valley. That was long before fuel injected engines, etc. :)
-
Well.....Topped out at 50* today w/strong winds all day. Sure melted a bunch of the snow. Now it's forecasted to snow tomorrow night.
Looks like G'Town will be major slushfest !!
-
Canyon Ferry was a lake on top of a lake this afternoon. The trout I caught could almost swim in the pools of water on top of the ice. Hope it freezes back up!
-
:roflmao: That's pretty funny Rainman.....I've never experienced it that bad while I was on the hardwater !!
Stay safe out there !!
-

Pull the sandbags out of the back of the pickup and stack them around the shanty! ;D
-
Will be taking my waders next time. How many days of this warm weather would it take to destabilize 30+ inches of ice? Would sure like to drive out to the middle of the lake for perch but am not sure how fast the ice will decline on warm day followed by warm night.
-
How many days of this warm weather would it take to destabilize 30+ inches of ice?
Hmmm.....That's a good question. I really don't have any knowledge on the subject, but outside air temp & wind/no wind would have to be the biggest factors. Maybe someone will chime in with some theories or actual facts about it. Stay safe out there !!
-
How many days of this warm weather would it take to destabilize 30+ inches of ice?
The day's high temps are obviously only for a few hours, I really pay attention to how cold the lows are and figure about how many hours of subfreezing temps there are. It's not very scientific, more experience-related unfortunately. That being said, NOTHING kills ice like a warm wind. 30" is a lot of ice, but every locale is different, pay attention and don't be stupid.
-
What a mess it's raining here in Belgrade
-
It's raining pretty good here in Helena. Roads are slicker than snot! It'll be interesting to see how Holter looks tomorrow.
-
Roads are slicker than snot! It'll be interesting to see how Holter looks tomorrow.
The ice has me pinned down at my place on a hilly side street this morning. I'm hoping it improves enough just to make it to a main road let alone to Holter by tomorrow!
-
Did y'all see that report on the local news lastnight about the snow in Cooke City ??
Stated they received 144"/12' of snow over an eight day period.
Now that's some serious snowfall.....Wouldn't want to be digging my way out of that !!
-
That's crazy
-
According to my phone the forecasted high for today was 44*. Right now it is 59* w/a slight breeze. Just crazy !!
-
Here in the Plains area the weather has been pretty stable. Highs in the low 40s and Lows in the high 20s. It ain't Spring yet, but you can see it from here...
-
63* on I-15 through Great Falls today, even got some dead bugs on the windshield; saw quite a few drift boats on the Missouri south of town.
-
Thermometer said 61 here in townsend today. Been warm for days. The ice on Canyon Ferry seems to still be stable at 23" at the silos
-
Topped out at 61* here at the house. The wind picked up & got real gusty at about 3:30pm. Only lasted an hour or so tho. A friend said it was 52* & pretty windy at G'Town today. That place will turn into a floating bowl of slush soup with a couple more days of this crap. Stay safe everyone !!
-
Looks like I've been sitting in the "Banana Belt" here. Many other parts of the state as well. 50* - 60* the past few days has certainly made the snow diminish here in town. The big snow pile I had plowed up behind my snowmobile trailer was roughly 6'L x 8'W x 6'H. It is now almost gone. Forecast says colder temps & some snow starting next Wednesday. We'll see. It seems Kyle is still getting the winter weather down there in West. Must be nice !! ;D
-
Ten day forcast shows some colder temps coming back. Looks like it's not over yet!
-
Poured rain here today for about 7 hours. Windy as heck too. Topped out at 44*, sitting at 42* now. Can't believe the amount of snow that has disappeared from the hills surrounding town. Usually looks like that in April.....not February.
The forecast looks to be more winterlike & favorable for keeping the ice around a bit longer.
-
Really crazy
-
Well.....Looks like the weatherman was correct.
Temps have definitely fallen & snow has been falling on/off the past couple days.
Trace amounts here in town, but the mountains look to be collecting more.
Hopefully this weather at least helps the ice hold for a bit longer.
G'Town looks to have got more than a trace.....Stay safe everyone !!
-
The temps certainly stayed on the colder side over the weekend. Mid teens for lows & upper 20's for highs.
"Winter Weather Advisory" issued earlier this evening & it's been snowing here for a couple hours now. Looks like some accumulating snow on the way.
Took a ride up G'Town way yesterday. There was a shelter out in Stuart Mill, 1 at Denton's & 1 a little bit west of Denton's. The wind was just howling up there.
Looks like the temps will hold for the next few days.....then upper 30's/low 40's for a few days.....then cooling off again.
Stay safe out there everyone !!
-
The chinook set in today. 57* right now with light winds.
Nice change from the past three days of 25 - 40 mph winds with cooler temps.
Forecast looks like a few warm days next week, but starts cooling down again next Friday. Here anyway that is.
How's the weather elsewhere around the state?? Lets hear some reports !!
Tight lines & stay safe out there everyone !!
-
Northwest Montana isn't anywhere near that warm, but it's starting to get there. Our highs are hanging around the low 40s, with the lows hovering around freezing. However, we do have a stretch of lows in the 20s coming up next week, so hopefully our ice will hold up!
-
My favorite little puddle has 15" of good clear ice. Temps are looking like it's gonna be there for a good while yet too!
-
so hopefully our ice will hold up!
Yes.....That's what all us hardwater nuts are hoping for !!
-
My favorite little puddle has 15" of good clear ice. Temps are looking like it's gonna be there for a good while yet too!
That's good to hear.....Longer the ice sticks around the happier we will be !!

agree..the west side of the divide doesn't have the temp swings..so when our ice sets up...it holds on longer generally speaking..if you gain altitude and wind sun breaks....even longer..
-
Oh how the forecast can change.
Four days ago forecasted temps for this weekend were upper 20's for highs with a chance of some arctic air moving in.
Now the highs look to be damn near 50* with wind & next week looking to be roughly the same.
This will take a toll on the ice around here if it holds true. Maybe springtime will be here early this year.
Starting to remind me of 2015.
I pulled my 5th-Wheel out of storage the third weekend of March & went camping the following weekend.
Earliest I have ever taken my trailer out for first trip of the year.
Tight lines & be aware of conditions if hitting the hardwater !!
-
Was in Bozeman last night seemed like spring there... came back home to darn near white out conditions. Probably got 4-6" :-\
-
hey...its snowing right now...... :-\
-
missoulafish you can keep the snow on your side of the divide. i am ready to change from rods to sticks that you beat up a little white ball with.
-
it just wont quit:(
-
maybe buy june
-
Started snowing about 9:30am & quit about 11:00am. Put down almost 2" of wet stuff.
Funny thing is that then the sun came out & melted it all - LOL !!
-
Snowing pretty damn hard here right now.
G'Town is getting pounded.
-
Well.....Ended up with 7.5" of snow from the storm.
Topped out at 44* today.....which melted about half of that snow.
Looks like mid to high 40's for the next four days.....then the 50's settle in.
Tight lines & stay safe !!
-
Forecast last nite was for 3" or so. At 7am, I measured 13", plus got another 4-5 thru out the day. Spent most of the plowing out neighbors w 4 wheeler. Fun for me, wasn't fishing but still outside. Luv MT weather! Next week supposed to b in low 60's. Great moisture!
-
You really got hammered with the snow lipripr. I spent half the day plowing with the ATV as well. Definitely good water content in the snow.
53* & windy right now. That new snow is almost gone.
Don't forget to set clocks ahead 1 hour Saturday night/Sunday morning !!
-
Well.....It's definitely springtime in the Rockies. One minute the sun is out warming up the day, then it clouds up & starts raining, then the wind kicks up out of the north accompanied with some heavy wet snow, then clears up & there's the sun again. These are the days of our lives.....for awhile.
Had some great weather this past weekend. The wife & I took off for the mountains Saturday, forged our way through the winters snowpack (without getting stuck I might add) into a campground, cut down a fair sized dead Lodgepole Pine tree, started a fire, had a few beverages & enjoyed the beautiful sunny day. I went back there Tuesday & there was fresh snow on the picnic table where we had been, but with the sun being out it didn't stick around long.
Wildlife is starting to move out of their wintering grounds & head to the lower foothills where the snow has melted. A lot of the birds are starting to make their way back as well. Have seen tons of geese & quite a few sandhill cranes.
Heading back into the mountains later this morning. Forecast is calling for a pretty decent day so I'm going to take the ATV for a ride. Go until I get stuck, get unstuck & repeat process until it's not fun anymore - LOL. After all.....it is my favorite time of year to ride !!
Everyone stay safe while out enjoying the activities you do !!
-
👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
-
Tear it up! @)
-
Looks like some high pressure is going to finally move into the area Tuesday evening after roughly 3 weeks of below average temps & a mix of rain/snow. Temps are forecasted to be 67* - 77* Wednesday thru Sunday. Of course I go back to work Friday :(, so I'll only get to enjoy a couple days of it. I'm thinking tomorrow morning I'll go get the summer wheels/tires slapped on the truck & then go get the 5th-Wheel ready for the summer.
It sure is nice to see the snowpack holding well in the mountains, but I'm definitely ready to get out & do some camping.....Play safe everyone !!
-
Forecasted 51* yesterday.....Topped out @ 56*
Forecasted 55* today.....30% chance of rain.....Wind Advisory that starts @ 5:00pm.....Just great !! >:(
Guess I'll just gorge myself with turkey today & not worry about hitting the hardwater or going snowmobiling.
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving & stay safe !!
-
:%$#!: lol!!!
-
extended weather looking good, highs in 30 lows in teens. ma nature gave use a dusting of snow last night and trying to snow more today. hope this is the start to my season.
-
Wacky weather early this morning.
Midnight - 40* with a slight warmish breeze out of the south.
1am - 36* with a light rain.
2am - 34 * with shall we say a whiteout of more or less slush.
2:30am - 31* with clear skies, but the wind starting to pick up.
3:00am - 31* with light wet snow & hurricane force winds out of the west.
SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES !!
-
Go to sleep
-
Go to sleep
Night shift, so can't just go to sleep.....Thanx for the not so solid advice tho !!
-
Ha
-
heard Anaconda might not be seen again until June-ish....
2/25/19 @ 10:00pm - Report I heard was 27" over the past 48 hours.....
I just got home about 2:35am.....I would say 30"+ & still snowing.....
Before I left for work yesterday afternoon I saw a couple ATV's with plows stuck, a Polaris Razor w/plow stuck & numerous cars & trucks stuck on the streets.....
I almost got stuck pulling up to the house when I got home this morning & the door was pushing snow when I opened it to get out.....
I heard school has been cancelled & people are urged to travel only when necessary.....Hmmmmm.. ...
Here's a pic of the Winter Wonderland.....There's a car under there somewhere !! LOL

could not have said it better.
-
We got about 12" here at my place in Sanders county last night and it is still lightly snowing. I'm ready for winter to be done, all this snow is getting obnoxious.
-
Pulling my flip was enough of a workout last weekend. 💪
-
Had a wonderful conversation with a city employee saying I need to keep bicycle lane cleared of snow that I’m pushing off sidewalks. Asked where to put it? On private property was his explanation.
So snow that is in street they plow onto sidewalks then land owners must dispose of there snow on private property?????

They are warning people here to keep the sidewalks and hydrants clear or risk tickets when they cant even get out of their driveways...
-
I'm sure glad that I have snowmobiles. It makes pulling pulling about 200 pounds of gear out on the snow covered ice real easy.
Ken............
-
I feel for you guys. While we've been hit with the frigid temperatures, Eureka has been spared most of the snow ya'll are being hammered with. I'd say we only have between 1.5-2 feet on the ground here in the valley...definitely more up in the hills. Might be worth heading this way if the slush becomes intolerable! Only complaint I have is the below-average (in my experience) kokanee bite on my area lakes. Seems the fish are as upset as we are >:(

Measured 28" at my place in Stevensville, and still snowing

Love in every moment. We need it

We need it
Irrigators will certainly benefit from reservoirs at full-pool. I recall reading an article on Fort Peck and how the fishery boomed after 2011's runoff filled the reservoir higher than it'd been for a while; more flooded vegetation (if I read it right) sent the food chain into overdrive. Seeing as how the MO's three forks have above average snowpack in their drainages, reckon we'll see that again?

-
Peck really gets a nutrient boost when it fills after a few years of low water. The last couple of years at full pool won’t hurt but we won’t get the full “new reservoir” effect. That said lots of nutrients are added with the run off. Last year we had mud as far down as Devils Creek.

Good point. Looking at the data, you can clearly see the drought prior to 2011 as well as the rebound that followed. It looks like we're still in the rebound period. But goodness...a mud-line all the way to Devil's Creek? How far are you from UL Bend at that point?

Pretty close.....They received a bit over half what we did.....Yesterday before I left for work I talked to a person from the county road crew & I was told we have now received 37" since last Thursday.....The CFO has declared a state of emergency.....Private contractors & all the young men from the Job Corps were called in yesterday to aid in snow removal.....The Job Corps men hit the streets to help residents get their cars unburied so that the heavy equipment could start removing snow from the main routes.....I was told the crews worked into the night & kudos to them for the extra effort.....I believe the kids are heading back to school today & I'm hoping the road crews can get some more of this snow off the streets.....This is the most snow I can remember seeing in town since I was a teenager.....Now that I'm older, I don't like it LOL.....Not this much anyway !!

Dam, it's 50 here in Idaho today, is the whole state going to get that cold?
-

That rugged "deal with it" mentality is common; Eureka had their first snow day in a century two years ago and it took over 2 feet falling in one night to earn it. However, they were right back in class the following school day, despite the additional foot that fell on their day off!
-
That rugged "deal with it" mentality is common
Yes it is, only reason we got out was, day they closed was last day before Xmas break, if not for that we'd have went.
-
last day before Xmas break
Well at least they were in the Christmas spirit!
-
Lol, yes
-
What's the possibility of all this real cold weather freezing up some of the slush and building more ice ?
Ken.......

Left for work this morning at 0415 & it was 31°/snowing lightly/wind howling about 25 - 30 mph.....Got to work & 34°/light snow/slushy/windy.....Glanced at the G'Town webcam & it looked like it had snowed hard up there, but I asked a coworker that lives up there & he said there was about an inch of fresh stuff when he left his house.....

Stay safe, folks.

It's mayhem in Helena with this wind event. Powerlines down, trees down, an entire roof flew off a house. Please God, just spare one reservoir up on the highline for this weekend!
-
winds hit 125mph on the mountain that has the M on it in Missoula. Power outtages all over Western MT, ice dieing everywhere :(
-
It was pouring rain ths morning at my house, kalispell area
-
I'm watching the shingles blow off my neighbors shed here in Laurel....
-
Dam, heard it was windy up there, you guys are taking a beating. A bit windy here, but over 50 today and rainy
-
High of 62 and gusts up to 70. Would be more productive taking the surfboard to the local spots than the ice fishing gear
-
Dam, definitely not great for ice there
-
Skunks are out .....
-
Lol, haven't gone to sleep yet here, not much of a winter here, be a low water year here if things don't change.
-
Sounds like Wyoming's weather. Numerous vehicles were blown over on the interstate today. Wind gust of 93 mph recorded west of Cheyenne. I had a high of 63 degrees where I live in northern Wyoming. Ground is completely bare of any snow throughout the Big Horn basin.
-
By looking at all the forecasts it looks like thing are going to get back to normal.
Ken............
-
Making ice big time now. below 0 over a lot of the state tonight!!
-
Hopefully all that slush freezes, I figured out how fun that was this weekend :o
-
Dam weather, was beautiful sunny to snow and rain today. Did get to see lots of beautiful country and lots of deer and elk.
-
54° here at the house yesterday & got a decent sunburn on the arms.
Reached 58° today & now we're in a "Winter Weather Advisory" until noon tomorrow. Calling for gusty winds, up to 6 inches of snow & a high temp of 34° tomorrow.

Yep.....Looks like some places got some decent snow. The news reported 9 inches in Hamilton. Received about 6 inches here at the house & now it's forecasted to be 10° when I head to work in the morning. To chilly for this time of year haha.....

Mother Nature VS Ol’ Man winter
-
Was in Missoula last year in October. Took a friend from Ohio to see her son who lives there and works for UPS. Long drive from NW Indiana but good roads and with Covid ,no traffic! Just put truck on cruise at 85 mph and let her fly til needed gas! Beautiful country! Was there 20 years ago in April-May? Don't recall date. Drove from Missoula up some mountain and watched guys ice fish. Were catching trout and coho that day. Snowed like crazy up on mountain.

Grew up there. Lived there for 20 yrs before moving out east. I remember school being closed for days because it was TOO COLD outside haha. Winter back then was serious. Once it arrived….it usually stayed. Ahhh..the good old days!! 😃
-
in the early 70's in Helena I remember playing softball during Christmas break in cutoff's. Our weather has always fluctuated and had big temperature springs in short periods of time.
-
Don't feel bad...no snow here anymore. Ice never got a chance to form. The 11'' we got the other week is all gone with the record breaking mid-60's temps and T'nado's last week. Now predicting thurs-fri-sat in the mid 40's. I seriously think there won't be any ice fishing here at all for the first time ever where I live...in the SE corner of the land of snow. ::)
-
that sucks!

Ain't no different here in northern Indiana! 60* yesterday and 20* today. Sometimes I'd like to move to northern Minnesota!!
