Hooks for Slammers
« on: Feb 03, 2013, 11:52 PM »
So I built a pair of Slammer tip ups and have been using them for rainbows. They've been working great except I'm getting about 50/50 lip hooks to deep hooks. I'm using number 8 octopus hooks and a small bit of nightcrawler. Anybody have any ideas to keep the rate of deep hooks down. I've got is set pretty sensitive. Bigger hooks? Switching to jigs?

 Use small tungsten glow jigs.

Maybe a circle. Trout always seem to swallow baits. Idk if there is much you can do really on trout.

I ice fish exclusively with slammers, and I use a #12 treble hook when trout fishing.  The hook catches in the corner of the mouth every time.
