Termite larva for bait?
« on: Jan 16, 2006, 05:41 PM »
Choppin wood today, and found some termite larva in my oak logs. Has anyone ever used these for bait? Unless it was some other larva for another kind of bug? Yellow worm. Looked like a meaty yellow mealy. TIA for reply

I've burnt wood for a lot of years and have tried maggots from different species
of wood and have never done too well with them.  I think that living in and feeding off rotting wood must make them kind of sour to fish.  Try goldenrod grubs or cornborers. These are like bluegill candy.

I have used goldenrod grubs too, and they worked pretty good for the perch and tullibee.
