Have you tried these for pike or tigers?
« on: Dec 11, 2014, 12:48 PM »
These seemed to really help with muskies. I've never seen them tried under a trap above a bait. I ordered them but wanted some feed back from those who have used them or thoughts on if I'm crazy or not. I got the water activated ones.

Everybody gets to use the fun stuff except people in MN.

 Here everything is illegal.

May have to rig up a treble on it ;). I'm going to do some testing with the two I have coming. One red, one green. I'll put those out with natural rigged bait.

Received the flashers in the mail yesterday. Going to try some testing this weekend if the weather cooperates and I can get back on the ice.

set up in the dark before sun up or after sun down? i dont think we have very many pike lakes here with crappie. pike here like to eat stocker rainbows. so would they count for a reason to stay in the area?

Only one way to find out. I have had four fish hit in the last two days, not one on a flasher. Not convinced yet I need to buy more.

i use the tiny glow sticks, for floats, on my line. this is the rigging here.

can use small willow blade in place of the sequin. sometimes even a worm rattle by the bait too.

seems like you would have a pretty high chance of a big pike chomping down on the light rather than your bait. Just my two cents. My best time for pike action is always right at first light.

It wouldn't surprise me. I've watched muskies hit a bait with them above it in a horizontal trolling presentation so I'd thought I'd try it vertically. However, every flag I've had were on traps without the flashers, so I'm not sold on them.

I have tried them both summer time saltwater fishing and icefishing.
Waste of money in my opinion.

I think I'm going to agree with you
I tried them on overnight Burbot sets. Since Burbot feed at night I thought what the heck might work.
I had one stolen bait on the lighted setup but the others held fish. The next day nothing on the lighted setup and others had fish.
Not a big test but for what the lights cost I didn't think it was worth messing with.

Thanks for the insight. I have to agree, and the more experimenting I do, it seems I keep going back to a natural looking presentation without all the glow/ flash.
