Auger blade sharpening?
« on: Feb 19, 2014, 10:29 PM »
I have an Eskimo 8" hand auger.  I was wondering...  what do you recommended to sharpen blades?

I noticed you can buy a blade sharpening tool however, I've never attempted to sharpen a knife let alone auger blades.  Is it fairly straightforward using a sharpening tool? And do they really work?

If you were a little closer i would highly recommend a guy i work with but from herriman its a ways to go. Check with any local knife/blade sharpeners around there. My guy only charged me $7 a set, which me and fishonone have chipper blades so it was only $3.50 for each of us. Great deal and he did a good job

I never found someone in SLC that had a good reputation for sharpening auger blades.  I just bought a new pair from sportmans warehouse for $ 23.00. Good sharp blades are well worth the money. I kept my old blades ,if i find someone that does a good job i will get them sharpened for my back ups.
