Gates to the mountains

Has anyone been ice fishing there lately? We want to drive up for a couple days of fishing.  Want to be sure we have safe ice.  Called one of the nearby shops up there but he did not know for sure.  Thx Pete

Maybe to late but As of this weekend there is still 8-12 inches of ice at the gates.   The ling bite has been very good and the trout bite has been picking up with larger fish showing up.
