There is definitely not 12” of snow on the lake. I was on paradox today and even 6” of snow might be pushing it. Easy transport on a atv right now.
What did you have for ice on Paradox?  I was on Eagle today and the was 8" black ice there.

No idea. I took a drive up to strictly walk out and take a look to see if I can get through the channel into the big lake. They are riding sleds out there off the nys trail and guys fishing with atv’s so I would imagine it’s around 8” as well.

Probably 3-5” snow and an inch of slush on top fished today 👍🏻 Looks like a big pressure ridge going all the way across if you were to head south out of eagle  be careful if u venture out only 4-6” down there probably not ready for any machines just yet

Thanks for the pics.  Looked like 3-5" of snow to me.

There definitely is not even close to 9” out there for snow. The snow didn’t even get over the top of my work boots. Come on now.

Dang, I’m gonna start handing out tape measures for free.

Before you start giving them out for free Atleast make sure they know how to use it. That’s the first step lol

On Paradox today .   About 8-10” in the spots I drilled .  Snow is a little deeper then Schroon, but no problem with the quads .

Are you friends with me on fb?

I fish a lot during open water and travel a lot. A lot of times I will bring new people. Just get ahold of me.

Got this guy the other day. Definitely some toothy critters in there. Lost a battle with one after almost 40 minutes a couple weeks ago  :(

Saturday looks ok. Light rain/snow starting in the afternoon. Heaviest is supposed to be Saturday night into Sunday.

Nice day on Schroon today. 9-10" ice, 3" snow.  Targeted jumbo perch, ended up with about 20 of these fatties and we quit at 1pm.

Awesome. I have plans to come up Saturday night stay until Tuesday afternoon. Assuming a half inch of rain Saturday evening, anyone have an idea what the delay is in terms of the lake level rising? Like does that much rain overnight Saturday mean there could be big shore gaps by Monday? Tuesday?

Any experience there would be helpful since I haven't booked a stay yet and it's not too late to change plans.

Won't affect it at all. Some of that precip will come down as wet snow, sleet, and some freezing rain. Turning colder afterward.

Looking for any free advice anyone can offer. I have a ten year old son who found his passion for cast fishing 4 or 5 years ago. Because of that, 3 or so years ago we decided to make it a four season hobby. Thus, we tried our luck ice fishing Schroon with little to know luck. Lets just say the little luck was because of the wind. Last year we started to get serious about jigging and did break down and buy a sonar machine. So by the end of the season we did wind up landing two small lakers. We have a camp near Schroon, so it is our go to location. Before my son gets anymore discouraged, I am looking for any advice on what to invest in for jigging lakers or perch. Last year, the two we landed were on a white 1/8 oz jigging head and 3" Gulp Smelt. May of just been luck, because we are not getting squat this year. Marking something down there. Just cant get anything to bite. Any advice on what to try or an improved technique would be much appreciated.

Always stayed at the leaf also.
Not familiar with how that works.
Good,  bad or indifferent  ?
Do you really need to do research and recommendation from actual live people or is the network pretty accurate  ?
