Seeing how LG probably won’t be a option this year, how is the perch fishing on schroon?

Were just entering the peroid of average ice over on LG, itll go.  Everyone only remembers whats most recent, which is several years of sooner than average ice.  If theres no ice by 2/15 then id give up hope.

A little early to make that call.   Low temps coming up we just need some windless nights and she locks up.

Lg locked in March a few years back for a couple days.  I got out and made the most if it.  Slay fest.

Has anyone been at Schroon today to see if the cold has helped the access points?

Thanks

Someone posted an ice report on fb. They said they shoreline locked back up. 6-8 inches of ice.  They had a sled out on it yesterday.

Good morning all! I have never fished Schroon with my wheeler before. Always via foot. What is the best spot to be able to launch a wheeler and park with a trailer? I don't mind unhooking the trailer and putting it in a spot. I just wasn't sure if machines were allowed of the state launch on the north end. Thanks in advance!

tip ups were quiet only a few flags and one lone 20in laker

My brother and I fished off the campsite this morning.  There is about 7 inches of ice.  We were after perch and we caught a bunch.  Sadly the majority were dinks.  It was a healthy walk to the bay.  almost too much for old timers like us.  First time out this year and we enjoyed the day.

What bay off of the campsite. I wanna take my 10 year old son and nephew this weekend and they are all about catching fish. They have perch tournaments all summer long. They just don't have the patience yet for the lakers. What were you catching them on and about how deep?

He’s talking off eagle point camp grounds I assume and also as far as schroon perch go, the rats are everywhere. The schools of 3-6” perch there are in the thousands and will be in any hole you cut from 20-60’ of water. In December when I was bass fishing from my boat out there, I was catching perch accidentally out in 70-80’ right on rock bottom that were solid 10”+ keepers.

Hi everyone, been tracking this thread for years.  Wives family is from Queensbury, heading there this weekend, they ski, i fish!!  I was looking for insight on which vehicle i should bring, atv or snowmobile?  I guess, how much snow on top?  I also noticed people seem to be impartial to snowmobiles on this thread, which honestly i prefer over the wheeler, and can assure you I will not be buzzing around!  Im there strictly to slaughter your lake trout and will release everyone of them after a quick pick!  Thanks for your help!

Out on wheelers today on north end , no problem getting around.   Ice is about 8-9 inches of good ice out to island .   Seen a few guys in narrows.    Slow fishing .

There is definitely not 12” of snow on the lake. I was on paradox today and even 6” of snow might be pushing it. Easy transport on a atv right now.

Probably 3-5” snow and an inch of slush on top fished today 👍🏻 Looks like a big pressure ridge going all the way across if you were to head south out of eagle  be careful if u venture out only 4-6” down there probably not ready for any machines just yet
