Shush...

Lake George is where it's at.. just keep telling people that..
I like peaceful solutions.
Now that the derby is over,  I hope LG stays solid until April. 😉

Lake George can be peaceful....   I’ve fished it every weekend since it froze and I’ve never had anyone fishing within a quarter mile of me.  All it takes is a mile hike in the morning 😎

As far as the laker fishing I think Lake George has a bit of an edge
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

Tough weekend this year. My father and I fished hard from 6 to 6 both Saturday and Sunday and no fish. Saturday we were off fowler and fished tip ups from 40 fow to 90 fow and nothing. Next day we went straight across off fowler to other side by a red cabin and again nada. Marked a ton of bait, jigged a ton and nothing. Very strange year but nonetheless great weather and time fishing in Adirondacks.

Champlain is even more peaceful.  Saturday and Sunday I couldnt see anyone on the ice but bigred and fontana.  For MILES!

I was on Schroon on 2/23. My first time getting anything, second time on this lake. Fished shallow water with tip-ups and jigging. Got nothing jigging. Limited out in 4 hours with tip-ups. NICE big lakers. Was fishing with four friends. Three fished deep, two (including me) fished shallow. We took home a total, live weight, of just under 90 lbs. All we caught were lakers. And it was a beautiful day.  Sometimes you are the baseball, sometimes you are the bat! That's fishing, that's life.

Set traps.
We've done well with multi species on them ourselves if not dedicated to a video screen

Yup next outing RJ put a few jaw jackers out.  Its not so much a being tried to a screen as much as needing to stay moving.  Both to find fish and because of ridges on ice that is well....scary.

Bill I hope you hit a pile of them.  Im sure ill bump into you close to home in April!

Looking to head out this coming week and target pike on the south end of the lake, anybody have any pointers? I was thinking of fishing between the island and the boat launch on the south end. I have fished the edge of the open channel on the south end before and action was slow at best. I know fishing in the summer we always see a few larger fish in the shallows in the spring but just haven't had any luck catching pike through the ice. I'm puzzled, we fish live and dead bait in different sizes but just cant connect.

Be careful down there, that channel opens up pretty quick, lots of flow there.

Funny you ask...didn't your buddies kid just win the derby with a 29" laker that looked just like a classic lake george colored laker?  I'm not claiming anything but I've never caught one and typically the bigger I've seen them get the darker they get.

Ask him about yesterday morning.  Only productive thing we did was drive down the lake!

A bit nasty yesterday?  We had 5-6 inches of snow, sleet and ice.

My son and i got out at sunrise saturday and it was another absolute gorgeous weather day to say the least
as for the fishing it was definitely slower than last saturday but still another solid outting with flurries of bites throughout the day  i ended up landing 10 from 13-22inches all on the jig and my son landed 4 all 19-24inches on tip ups
all fishing done in 40-50 feet
im sure theres still a good month of fishing left , i may sneak one more in before i pack all my gear away
regardless it was a long great season on schroon both weather and catching

Quite slow up here also.  Fished Indian Saturday tip ups and jigging, caught two big bass on the jig.

Its funny you mention that....it is the reason for bringing it up.  I wasnt on the ice when the fish in question was caught

You guys are hilarious.  Schroon has darker lakers and lighter ones that look just like LG fish.

You need to catch more big ones.  My 2 largest from schroon this year.

Neither of the 3 fish you posted looks like the fish that won the derby. The only reason I didn't mention anything is because from what I could tell the little boy caught the fish. I would really hope that a father wouldn't teach him to bring a fish from another lake to win the derby.

Top fish in the picture is the winning fish.

It is what it is.  Comments like yours are the reason I don't fish derbies.  Regardless of the outcome there are always people who can't let a win be a win.
