I had my drone out on the North end of the lake today. If you were fishing at around noon you could be in the footage !

Please share. I’d love to see what I look like catching nothing from above

We went to fish for Lakers but the lakes mobbed near the deep water so we tucked off into a bay and got Into some perch. Seen 3 big schools of smelt on the sonar. Seen a couple guys with Lakers while on an atv ride around the lake. A few 25 inch trout . We came across some dirtbags spot that trashed the ice and left a pickerel to die on the ice. It was still alive so we stuck it back down the hole and it swam off.

Good job on the perch and also saving the pickerel.
no trash on the ice is good.
How deep do you figure the water was where the guy's caught the lakers ?

No littering pisses me off more than leavingg cigarette butts on the ice. It's so easy to just carry a ziplock baggie and stick them in there after killing the butt in a puddle or something. How can you value an outdoor place enough to fish on it and enjoy it but then treat it like garbage?

way back  40 years ago or more  you looked for holes that had a lot of cigarette butts around because it meant the people stayed along time they must have been catching fish!  ......now days  I really don't like seeing it , if your still stupid enough to smoke just throw the butts in your  sled please  .....

just another side note guys  , I know you all pick up trash ...be careful  ...I was picking up trash fishing and found needles!!!!!  one more thing we all have to be aware of especially those with children that would help pick trash up.....

They got the Lakers around the deep water drop off on the north side I believe. So many tip ups and people it was hard to tell what was going on lol

An actual fishing post by me.

We fished schroon yesterday and today.  Man it was busy.  I didn't set a tip up in 2 days but I bet I seen 400 , at least that I could see where we fished.
Tried to not interfere with anyone  by just jigging. It was tough.  We caught nothing in 2 days efforts. My only attributes that I. Can think were , so much pressure. We didn't see people chasing flags but informed some that went off . Just nuts to set traps 150 yards away,  ( rant ).

Conditions:
Everything was fine ( 6" ) where we and large groups at public access was. Didn't see any ATV or drones,  thank gosh,.
Did see open water.
Open water was only visible from south of the narrows for about 1/4 mile then it was locked back up all the way south.
Gates still locked at eagle and seen no tracks from manor to eagle.
Probably the smart thing would be to fish Adirondack side.

Is lake George frozen yet ?

South end is locked up?   I wasn't sure if it would be with the warm days we've had.

I'm planning on heading up next weekend.   Looks like some real cold nights coming our way!

;D thanks for the update rj. . The mass exodus to George can't happen soon enough then you'll have schroon to yourself . . Lol. . I spent the day walking the shoreline at schodack landing picking up lure after lure and bobbers. .  ;) . . Tight lines my brother. . .

Drove by on Sunday, looked like a village out there. I went to a smaller lake nearby, don't really like crowds. Wind was pretty intense Sunday afternoon and I forgot to throw the popup in the car. Weather is night and day as soon as you get north of George, I watched my car thermometer drop 10 degrees in 5 minutes.  Snow devils were annoying, (let's reset the flags again).but good to be out.

Schroon has been slow but I keep finding a decent fish here and there.  27"

The south end has large holes in the very thin layer of ice that formed.  It has locked once before Tuesday and was blown right open.

I did not test the ice south of the narrows and by no means calling it safe .
What I can say is it was locked and I didn't see any wet spots from driving along rt 9. I also didn't see any signs of people either.
Also,  it was snow covered which means to me its been locked since at least last Monday.

Not possible for the south end to have had ice on it Tuesday...it didnt after the rain.  Note in the pic below there is a ton of water on the ice Tuesday.   Not snow.

I'm just going by what I seen. We fished the lake Monday and there was snow.
We fished the lake Saturday and yesterday and there was snow.

Your picture seems to show just south of the narrows as well and yesterday that was still open water

That was last Tuesday no snow...point being the south end is no where near close.  Pic was facing north.

By no means am I saying the south is safe,  again I'm just saying it was locked up yesterday.

This picture was taken 12-30-18 ( Sunday)

This was 12-31 ( Monday)

This was taken yesterday

Given the single digits now,  it got nowhere to go but grow.
