Lol trapper good question, what I do normally is. Make sure it’s a safe thickness I like at least 6 inches of ice. I know ice can very thickness  because the lake doesn’t freeze at the same time. So I’ll stick close to the shoreline but give about 10 feet so I’m not on any over flow or busted up ice along the shore. Just take it slow . I have a gas auger mounted on the front so I’ll just keep it running. Hop off and drill a test hole ever now and then , once I get to my fishing location I’ll walk from the shore out to deeper water drilling test holes. If it’s safe I’ll walk back and get my atv. If that spot doesn’t work out I just keep going down the lake. An atv isn’t like a sinking brick you might have a tire fall in or if the front falls in it will get hung up on the frame or bumper. But if your only over a foot or so of water it doesn’t really matter you ca just back out. You just have to be smart and take it slown and keep your eyes open for changes in the ice. Once the lakes get about a foot just send it lol.

I've tried testing ice with an ATV. It sucks.
My experience now is either it's going or staying home.  If it's a mid season or deep snow,  it or the snowmobile goes and gets used.
If it's a walk in the park, then its staying.

Right now its not that difficult

Haha.  Good luck!  Have fun.   And I would put the 4th trap out if I were you.  That'll be the one!  Watch.  Save us a spot Saturday.

So tomorrow is going to be different than every other trip you've done this year?  Your laker career is more washed up than a piece of driftwood at weakapaug....You may want to try bowling instead!   ;)

Let's hope Ed.  You fishing Saturday?  From what I understand we may play a fun game of who can get there the earliest. Mazda man is tough to beat.

Oh yes ill be fishing with my new frabill sidestep 3man flipover. How early we talking?? I was planning on being at fish307 at 530-545 to get some hunts and a few pike baits
Go big or go home

Few hours earlier. I asked Shawn to grab some hunts for me today so I don't have to wait for 307 to open tomorrow.

Good luck in her, hoping you land more fish in it than I did! I’ll keep an eye out for ya! Gonna try to keep the streak going in the little clam

We can get smelt.  We should do what I suggested the last trip especially now that my shanty will be lit up.

Morning Gents. A buddy and I are headed up to Brant tomorrow. First time on that body of water. Any tips or tricks that someone could recommend. Thinking we will get on @ Jimbos.

Thanks!
