I don't know man. I been there 6 out of 9 days. Got a bunch of freezing rain last night and some pretty good steady rain all morning until about 1pm.

There is no slush or snow on the lake but plenty water on top . The lake rose quite a bit since last Sat making the shoreline messy, at least at eagle point

I've been watching weather. Still getting freezing temps at night.  Hoping the ice hold out long enough for my trip. Any tips on where to fish

Sadly now it's not so much the lows in temps,  it's the highs and rain that kill it.
There is much longer highs per 24 hrs then lows now and the shore warms up.
Still lots of ice yet to fish though.  Just remember your SPUD !!

Most definitely will be safe. Any one wants to go with us feel free. Always like to meet new fisherman. And more lines in the water means better chance of seeing some fish! !

Was plenty of ice on Schroon over weekend, but shore at boat ramp and Fowler was starting to open a bit. Anyone know if shore has opened today up more making hard to get on/off at boat ramp or Fowler?

First pic is from this morning 7am
Second pic is from 2pm
Third pic is water chart from USGS showing Schroon only rose after last weeks rain 1/2ft, and is forecast to slowly down down this week.
Forth pic is water pockets off Adirondack, which as of today has drained off or froze. Last night was in the mid twenties.

Thanks everyone for the updates and pictures! I will be heading up tomorrow afternoon to make decision whether to pull shanty or hope to get off on Fowler after Derby Sunday. Why mother nature can't give us teens at night through March is beyond me! Thanks again all!

I had lunch with some locals who pulled their shanty today.  40's Tues, 50* Wed., if I had a hard shanty out there mine would be off, just sayin'.

I'm hoping ice will hold up til March 11th. So I don't have to cancel my yearly trip. If u guys could please keep me posted on the ice conditions it would be greatly appreciated.

You got it!

April 1 last year was my last trip there last year.  Snowing that day too.  Be nice to make it until April.  Would like to avoid the shoreline polar plunge.

Just be smart and safe ,pick your access spots carefully. I'd bring muck boots.  That water that forms all mid morning throughout the day is going somewhere,  right ?  The lows are certainly not overcoming the highs,  somethings gotta give way , it's called the thaw.
All that,  I certainly think the tournament will be a blast and some very nice fish caught.  If I was a tournament or crowd person I'd be on schroon lake this weekend.  I know I will be fishing it the week after 😀
Good luck folks.

Ps.
Bring  a spud , only if it avoids a wet foot along shore

I did!  I should have known as it took me a long time to find a spot to get on then when I went to leave the water was much higher than when I got there!  Always an adventure.

Based on all your responses I've decided against my stubborn will to take shanty off Schroon today ahead of the tournament. Memories of last year breaking 1,000+ pund ropes dragging it out of 3' of water, smoking the truck tires with chains on them, and having to chop ice to make way for shanty is no pleasant reminder of this damned early thaw  ;D Now my shanty is good 1/2 mile from Fowler, near point of the Island - has 4' x 6' American Flag flying high. So I'll make this challenge to anyone who may be on north Schroon today with a wheeler. I'll bet you $50 you can't tow my shanty (it's on trailer with dual-wheel trailer dolly on front - so no weight on wheeler) to Fowler. That's a bet for anyone who is up to it. If no takers I'll get my workout today  ;) I should be starting to push this heavy old hut around 9:30 or 10:00.
Again, thanks to all the great info! Hope to see some great fish on ice this weekend

Was right decision to get the Shanny off today. At the end of Fowler as you’ll see it’s opening up. I was able to get my truck onto the ice not going slow mind you getting back off about 30 miles an hour. By this weekend there’s no chance that was gonna happen. Thanks again for your information guys.

Glad you got it off, wise move.  I made the mistake of not getting mine off when conditions were getting bad, what a nightmare, never again.

You'll need a boat to get to safe ice

That's almost as bad as going over the GW.  I think id rather deal with shrinkage.
