Yeah saw a video on the Schroon Lake Fb page about it.  Something about a propane tank.  Gave the boys a chance to take their 8 wheeler out there. Didn't sound like a big deal.   Saw a comment  on there from some "snowflake"  about " Risk men’s lives for that, insane!"   Always amazes me, no matter what activity we outdoorsmen and women do there are people out there that would stop it, if they could.

Well my thermal couple broke and I decided to tape the pilot valve closed. As ive seen other guys do it to their old heater buddys. I believe my regulator from High/medium/low froze and let out an excess amount of propane. I ordered a new regulator and thermal couple to replace the old ones. I think im just going to upgrade to the newest heater buddy and have this as a backup. The only reason I like using these old style ones is so I can cook on the ice.

Anywho if anyone wants Hibachi come stop by my shanty sometime! LOL ;D ;D ;D

Drove around the lake today. Some guys fishing north of Eagle Pt, center.   Everything I saw looked locked solid.

My son and I got out this weekend we fished the north end
Saturday we landed 6 lakers
3 jigging and 3 on tip ups
On Sunday we only jigged from 7-11 and landed 4 lakers between us with quite a few missed hits
Nothing big for us the lakers ranged from 14-21 inches all were released unharmed to fight another day
We had a solid 6-8 inches of ice on maybe 2inches of snow we had no problem with the Quad
It won't be long now with these temps that we'll be driving our trucks out there
Good start to the new year 😎😎😎

What kind of heater did you have? A mister buddy or the sunflower type. I have had to do the same with one of those sunflower type but never any problems with my buddy

Go off town boat launch, about 1/3 out, start there. Head north or south till you find them.  White tubes are good, white Swedish pimple, rattle spoons perch colors are my fav.

Drove around the south end today.   Up as far as Blue Sky.   Too cold at -12 before the windchill for outside fun today.   I wasn't dressed for it.  But next weekend looks balmy!

Heading up this weekend and was wondering how the ice is holding up off of the town boat launch?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  I’m coming from 2hrs away and don’t want to be bummed out if I get up there and there isn’t safe ice to fish. Haven’t been out yet this year and can’t wait to be standing on some ice!!!!

Be very very very careful.  I went in last year right after one of these rain events at schroon. Got there in the am.  Water was up a foot and a half in the morning.  Took a solid 30 mins to find a place to get on...well 7 hours later the water had risen significantly and I broke through trying to get off.  I personally wouldnt fish schroon until a couple days after the rain.  I should have noticed the water being lower in the holes which indicates the ice sheet is floating...

I noticed that today on LG and that probably doesn't have nearly as much water flowing into it today as schroon does.

Where I am is fine. It’s about 12” thick. The edge this morning in the first spot I tried was a little sketchy but I just walked 20’ to the left and was fine.
