5 for me.  Water on edges.  Fished until 4.  Back tomorrow?  Drove home through the front and got caught in very heavy pea sized hail.  That was crazy...

Rivers pouring into Schroon Lake right now.  Lake has come way up in the last 12 hrs, will get worse before it gets better  Will just have to see how it looks come Thursday.

Did those turkeys at the dam open the spillways yet?   I don't want to see another April '11.

Got that right Bill, has come way up since yesterday afternoon.  There is also a couple ice jams on the Schroon River north of town, more rain this week, 50's, I know I'm done, but everything I'm hearing is the Derby is still on.

Thanks for the photos, that is not good.  :-\

Maybe the weather at the end of next week will help?

Neil it will not help.  Runoff is going to continue to raise the lake.  Temps won't matter much if the edges are constantly trying being broken up/thinned out....and as I learned yesterday the thin ice extends a bit further than the eye can see.

Is there any solid places to get on the lake? Your photos look like we are going to need a bridge to get on the lake safely.

Sorry, I could not find any, in fact I had to go back into town late this afternoon and the lake continues to rise.  The boat launch area is a complete mess, and a large area in front of Rogers Brook has opened up.  There is a lot of flow coming in, and my question is, what is that flow doing to the underside of the ice sheet?  We'll just have to see what it looks like Thursday.

Russian judge gave you a 0.0 on the pole vault attempt!

Yep, took the same ride as schrnlkr... shores are toast.  Need waders to get to ice now, by the weekend you'll need a boat.  Saw a shanty out by the island on north end, good luck getting that off.

A boat would be safer.

Jon it's ironic that it happened on a day I was alone...granted I knew the exit would be strategic when I got on in the morning...just not that strategic!

Humph, just a waiting game I guess. Planned on heading there Sunday for a little b-day fishing. Nice cold snap for the end of this week into the weekend, hopefully will harden up the edges, still, with the high sun it is gonna be a dogfight.

BTW, is the derby for next weekend a real circus? If it is I may venture elsewhere, don't feel like hoofing it with 300 other people and walking 2 miles to find a comfy spot.
A smart person would watch the few that ventured to the ice sheet, the daring would follow in their boot prints, but the pioneers would already be heading to where they belong.

More like a few hrs. I fished narrows Thursday,  eagle Friday and back to narrows until noon saturday with no issues even close .
I'm toast from ice fishing this season and looks like lake is just about there too.

Saturday I was out too and it was great, even getting off.  Some water on the edge.

I had hoped the lake would receded so the edges would be dry...forecast says otherwise.

Here are the latest posts from the Schroon Lake Fish & Game Club Ice Fishing Derby on their Fb page;
"I will be posting this again due to many still asking about the ice conditions.

The ice fishing derby still is and will be open for this weekend! We have NEVER cancelled it and never will UNLESS there is not enough ice on schroon lake of course. In an event if this were to ever happen, we would make sure to let everyone know. Otherwise the derby is still open! Once again there is still more than enough ice on schroon lake for fishing. See you all this weekend!!

Any questions please let us know or call 518-532-7953

Thank you!

Another post;
 Shore lines have been pushed out due to the river raising the lake. The water should be back down and the shorelines back to normal by the weekend as it has been going down. The lake still has at least if not more than 12" of ice to fish. Again the derby will NOT be cancelled. This is nothing new. Everyone use their own discretion when fishing on the lake. Thank you!
