Was up there on Wednesday and just snow on ice, no slush.  Ice is 10 inches or more on north basin.  Snow is probably 3-4 inches.

Fishmon thanks for the battery info.  I am going with a two pack of 12v 9 ah for this season, and I might upgrade to the lithium 10ah next season.  It's tempting, especally the lighter factor for hole hopping, but damn that's a lot of coin (99$ plus shipping)

Yup!  That is a lot of $$, but I think prices will drop just like the LED light bulbs.  Technology is getting better all the time and eventually costs will drop.  If you told me 10 years ago that I would be able to drill 30 or more holes with a cordless drill attached to my trusty Nils, I would have laughed.

Hey guys, heading up to Chestertown tomorrow, wanted to get out on the ice for a bit. wondering if any one had any information on Loon Lake? Access? any unsafe spots to stay away from, i know there is a dam at the end of the lake. any information would help!

The dam is way below the lake.  Most of the fishing is north end or off Adirondack.

Yeah, the 2 pack of batteries was 40 shipped from amazon.  Not saying its too much money or anything, but i would love to see it come down in price.  I hadn't even considered the weight, hole hopping with a lx7 is a pain, anything that makes it easier would be welcomed, like a lighter battery.

There are spaces just above the boat launch in the north, or even on route 9.   In ADK, by the post office is a lot.

I think he's asking about Loon Lake.

Guys, I caught this fish this morning at Schroon and I'm wondering if it's a brown trout or landlocked salmon. Can anyone identify it? It was 25" and I caught it jigging in about 30' of water.
