What do you guys jig with for the Lakers there? My daughter has caught 2 nice rainbows on a tungsten gold glow bead tipped with spikes. We have never fished for Lakers but they are awesome looking!

Well today was my first time fishing for lakers anywhere and I was doing something right and something wrong! lol.... had about 20 laker chase my jig anywhere from 20-50ft in the water column and not strike  :( however I did manage to get 2 to hit... a 12" and a 16" so i did something right there just couldn't reproduce the results with the other fish. It was pretty cool seeing them just appear on the flasher and charging in and the schools of smelt or whatever periodically coming around.... any tips for me?

Also the launch behind stewarts is pretty slushy along the shore

That paradox brewery beer is unbelievable.   Its almost too good.

Actually. I don't care for the taste.  It's bitter . But then again,  I'm a conformed stout to a  busch guy.
Crossroads has a great selection incuding an early am growler of paradox if needed .

My only suggestion is , decipher perch from lake trout.
If they are just coming 2 ' off , move .
Find a hump , flat and small hole . Fish around there , move around there.
Just open water is just a shot at a fish passing  through. 30-60 fow is easier to figure out then 60-100 fow ,
Good luck

I was fishing 67 fow on the drop offs... and most the time was jigging around 40ft.... when i was jigging towards the bottom those were the ones chasing it about 40 ft up then just turning away

When they do that, open your bail and drop it right back at them, Usually they'll stop and sometimes come back at it. If  they come back, just reel away when it just about to them. But if they don't and just stop, stop your bait when it is just above them, jig it a few times and reel away or just reel away, like you would off the bottom. Sometimes they'll follow and do the same thing and stop and descend, but repeat that sequence.  It doesn't work all of the time. Just try to figure out how they want it, dead or alive.  Last week I worked numerous fish through the water column, some as much as 5 times before they hit just under the ice. Hope this suggestion helps a little. Try smelt oil on your bait as well. You can pick it up at fish 307.

^ Do that.  If you are using the right jig you can also make them pick it up off the bottom when they are being really picky.

the brewery moving to the old frontier town would be huge for them. they have grown so much since they started. not too mention its only about 30 minutes away. they can even set up their own little paraphernalia shop with merchandise.

One day it was all I could get them to do.  Fun to watch with zoom on....and more fun because you get to really sting them rather than them catching the jig.

Hey guys,

Going to head up next weekend and want to fish the north end. I have read you all saying down size. Are we talking like panfish size or bigger?

Thanks for any info I really appreciate it. I'm used to using like 4" tubes so any help would be great.
