Very nice...tough day laker fishing when the ice goes up and down a couple feet....had some neat ridges to go over that did not exist in the morning...

I've fished multiple laker lakes at home and one or two in ny but never schroon. Any tips? Depths? Lures? North basin or south basin? Access points?

The easiest bet is the north end behind Stewarts. There's a big public launch.
I don't have the experience a lot of these guys do, but I can tell you to run jigs smaller than any other trout lake.
The few times I really hammered them was when I had a box of perch/crappie jigs handy.

Beware of new pressure ridges gentlemen.  One big quake yesterday broke up a bunch of ice and made bigredonice and I use some tact getting off.  If you were on the lake when it happened I am sure you know what I'm talking about...

Southend...you can't really miss it until it snows.

was a serious BOOM. be careful out there. lots of safe ice, but this snow incoming is definitely going to make for some sketchy hikes if you plan on walking a distance to your fishing hole.

So oddly quiet after that boom...apparently my buddies saw a guy go in Sunday...wasn't using a spud...saw lots yesterday not using one.  Crazy if you ask me...

Adirondack area?    Eagle Point area?

I fish the south end and will be bringing the 7year old up this weekend.

Eagle point area . There is an open area of water in the center just off the southern beach.
Guys were walking north around it to get to the west side.

Bring a spud and make sure your kid walks behind you.  The ice we accessed broke up during the day forcing us to cross the ridge...ok for us..I wouldn't want to put my daughter in that position especially after seeing the open water are increase from Sat to Monday even with cold temps.

I was hoping to get my kids up there for some trout action this weekend.
Not after that report. Looks like another weekend of perch fishing for us!  ;D

I'm pretty comfortable but would not try to attempt to get where I was yesterday unless there was zero snow on the ice...

Eaten glad I could help...I should have taken video of people scurrying after the boom but I was busy staring at the flasher screen  ;D

This was 8" of ice solid in the am..by afternoon uncrossable.

Perchin is fun too, but there is plenty of good, safe, stable ice Narrows north.  First 1/2 ton truck on the ice north end today, not that I am recommending that.

We fished yesterday with side by side from dock st to the narrows and back.  Beautiful day. The bite was a bit slow for us.
