Salmon?  Might just be me fellas, but where I come from, we call that a brown trout
Browns don't have a forked tail, that's a LLS
If you drill it, they will come...

Pretty sure it's a salmon. It's very silver, jaw doesn't extend beyond eye, thin tail, and forked tail.

First one looks like a land locked, second one looks more like a brown but I'm no expert

Me and a couple of buddies are looking to head to schoon next weekend and are looking for a point in the right direction to get on some lakers I'm from lake George and usually see no need to go anywhere else but with the late season last year and no ice yet this year I'm ready to find some where  els to get on some lakers and a good panfish bite wouldn't be bad either any help on a good area on the lake to fish would be great I'm in the dark here never fished their hard or soft water season thanks

Had some fun there yesterday myself...picky fish but I got lucky and figured them out.  They would not chase at all.

I found the same thing a couple qeeks ago low. Some would chase some wouldn't but the ones that wouldn't would still hit it just took a little different technique a  technique i  learned on lake george one day when they wernt chasing super aggressive like they normally do.

I've seen that same plane almost hit a group of guys on the ice at sacandaga and barely had room to get above the trees...so when I saw it yesterday I had quite the flashback...

At the end of this video you can see it. I bet he was only 10ft over a group of guys right at the end of the video

So ....  was it anyone on here who went in yesterday?

We just got setup after a long walk to get across a pressure crack and heard a cry for help. By the time i flipped my shanty up and grabbed my rope he was out and walking back towards the parking lot.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

I stopped in at my cabin for about 10 minutes so I could pick up some line to tie new leaders.   There were some guys south of Eagle in a shanty.   Some on the east shore too.   Maybe Blue Sky to Shaw Hill area?    I didn't pay much attention to the East Shore.

Pressure ridges were popping like crazy today at Eagle Point. Constant noise from the ice and then WHAM! Holy god. It was really something. lol

There is still open water at EP, but people were set up on both sides. Ice is about 5 inches.

I was just North of you and could hear it going crazy down there. It came though once where i was and rumbled right under me and shook like crazy. It was louder than thunder! You guys had it bad though.

I had 7" where i was. Landed quite a few Lakers, including a 25 1/2" fatty. Had some flags set for salmon, with a bunch of drops. One however, hit it so hard it back lashed. When i got there, i saw my leader broke. 🤔 Oh well... back at it again tomorrow.

We got skunked down there. Yea there is open water,  the hill is brutal.  Keep your head up and be safe.
Musta been the good Ole GD cranking because I just heard an occasional rumble,  thought it was Micky on planet drum.
After a straight 4 weeks on hardwater,  I'm off the ice in lue of in the water with a long pole. Next stop , great Lakes trout.

Hope everyone stays on top , leave some for me later

Ps. Sorry,  BEAUTIFUL  fish !! Glad you had fun
