couple inches

Do you think it might blow off tonight?  It looks like it'll be a cold one!  I hope the wind doesn't break any spots up.

It's light snow, easy walking.

Ok, who's going out on the ice today?   I'm looking out and see 1 guy just south of eagle.

Fished the North end of the lake yesterday for pike and came up empty. We did end up with some of the largest perch I have personally caught out of the lake. We also caught a ton of the typical smaller Schroon lake perch

The guys I was with didn't want to go out due to the cold.  It was pretty bad when the wind started whipping.  On that, I found the limits of my little woodstove last night.  I was always curious how low it could go before it wouldn't be able to handle heating the 12x16 front room of the cabin.  It has heated it in colder weather than what we saw last night, but not with that wind.

Did you bring in your "top shelf " wood for last night?  High btu stuff, oak, hickory, beech, locust for days and nights like this.

Oh yeah.  Seasoned 4 years too.  It was lighting off upon contact with the coals.  As I look back on it I raised the cabin this spring.  More wind can get under it now.  The floor temp probably sucked the temp out of the air... Reverse radiant heat.  When I got the truck started the thermometer said -20.

I suppose I got lucky though.  I stopped into a Cabin across the street and warned the guys to get their vehicles started.  Then I ran to Adirondack.  When I came back to check on them their pellet stove had overfilled their burn pot and the fire backed into their hopper!  We emptied the hopper to get the fire out of that, then I scooped everything out of their burn pot with a big kitchen spoon.  I hope their stove wasn't damaged.

When I got back south and to the wife I brought up looking to see if a new wood stove is in the fall budget.

Not having any snow to bank the bottom of the cabin doesn't help, this year is the first year since '89 that that is a problem for my place.
