Drove by some ponds today in central mass and the shallower ponds had s thin layer of ice over them. Hopefully well be on the ice by the end of December

Based on some 10 day forecast im thinking dec 1st will be the day.

Opening day last year was Epic!

That spot has been frozen for over a week.  We could easily fish it this weekend.

i even saw some skim ice on ponds small ponds out here in the boston area. with the cold weather for tomorrow and friday, there could be safe ice by saturday in places. hope some folks can get out. would be amazing to be out that early this year!

I checked some spots near me.  If you know the right places there should be some ice fishing to be had by Saturday.

I'll be out Saturday checking some of the early spot hopefully there iced over already. has anyone witnessed some good ice forming yet in Mass. Not asking where just want to know if it's happening somwhere

Most of the skim ice that I have seen in C. MA has been the type from the snowfall; white and not what I want to see... If we did not have all this wind today and still had the low temps, I think we would have safe ice in many places (nice and Black)... Sunday is my free day to get out and see what is safe...

You should really think about your family rather than selfishly risking your life and those of first responders fishing sketchy early ice.

It’s his life, let him risk it (not that I think an experienced ice fisherman with a spud risks much frankly)- what do you care? Typical snowflake handholding mentality.

This guy above has no experience on early or late ice. He shows up with a pair of blue jeans and a 1209 to jig some perch. Dont forget the blow torch to make holes. What time should I arrive with the throwable floating ring?

I got this really shallow pond that's 4 feet at the deepest by my house i checked today and found maybe a inch and a half I think we will have 3 by Sunday on the small shallow ponds

People r on the ice today at a local pond (not tryna spot burn) but we have a solid 3 inches now! Ice season had officially begun!!
