1-23-11 Deep Creek Lake
« on: Jan 30, 2011, 09:38 PM »
I caught 4 dink perch, the biggest one maybe 6 or 7 inches and one walleye just under 17 inches.

Marking my tip-ups sp  I could find them, the snow was coming down hard and fast.

One last look back on the lake as I was leaving.

Johns,

Real nice wally.  We need some cold.  Lots of slush this weekend.  Fished McHenry, Sat. not much jiggin but my friend's mom caught a 32 in. pike and nice smallie plus some smaller pike all on tips.  Sunday was a little better few keeper perch and some nice gills at the evening bite.  Great fishin weather but getting sloppy.

Congrats on that eye!

I'd like to see the snow melt off then refreeze. I don't like how soft the clear ice is. I've been using my hand auger this year and I can really feel the difference in the hardness of the ice. The snow is insulating the ice from the cold and I believe making the hard ice soft. I have been fishing Rocky Gap this year and the ice is a lot harder than Deep Creek. At least before it got snow on it.
